Report – Inter Milan Captain Facing Race Against Time To Feature In Derby d’Italia Vs Juventus

Inter Milan superstar Lautaro Martinez faces a race against time to be at Cristian Chivu’s disposal for the upcoming clash against Juventus.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, El Toro looks set to return late from September’s international break.

Lautaro Martinez started the new season with a bang, finding the net in Inter’s 5-0 rout of Torino on the opening Serie A weekend.

However, the 28-year-old slumped to another underwhelming performance in round two.

Indeed, he was merely a shadow of his former self as Udinese stunned the Nerazzurri 2-1 at San Siro.

Despite his mixed start to the season, the former Racing ace remains one of the most influential figures at Inter.

Indeed, he has been this team’s driving force on and off the pitch.

Therefore, Cristian Chivu must be desperate to have his captain available for the upcoming Derby d’Italia.

Meanwhile, the Argentine forward will arrive back between Thursday and Friday, while the game takes place on Saturday.

As such, Chivu may leave his star striker on the bench.
