Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly looking to sign Ademola Lookman on deadline day, but they failed to get the deal done.
According to GMS , he was a priority target for Thomas Frank at the last minute, and Tottenham tried to negotiate a deal with Atalanta. However, the move failed to materialise eventually.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to improve that area of the pitch when the transfer window reopens in January. Lookman could have been a very useful acquisition for them. He has played in England before, and he knows the league well. He could have made an instant impact.
He registered 27 goal contributions last season, and he is capable of operating anywhere across the three. Having a versatile attacker like him would have been a huge bonus for Tottenham. Dominic Solanke is already sidelined with injury, and even though Tottenham have signed Randal Kolo Muani on loan, they could use more depth in that area of the pitch.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get through to the January window with the current options at their disposal. They will be hoping to fight for trophies this season and secure Champions League qualification as well. They need a deeper squad with more quality. They had multiple injury problems last season, and they are already struggling with the absence of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Solanke.
Adding another quality attacker to the squad should be a priority for them. Tottenham will be disappointed to miss out on the Nigerian international on deadline day. It will be interesting to see if they can manage their current resources carefully and move for a quality player when the transfer window reopens.
