Sassuolo are completing a double deal on deadline day, securing Woyo Coulibaly from Leicester City and Walid Cheddira from Napoli.

The Neroverdi have had a difficult start to the Serie A season after winning the Serie B title last term, failing to pick up a single point so far in two rounds against Napoli and Cremonese.

They are therefore pushing to reinforce the squad at the disposal of coach Fabio Grosso.

Coulibaly and Cheddira set for Sassuolo

Sky Sport Italia confirm the deal is done to sign Coulibaly from Leicester City, as the 26-year-old Mali international’s agent worked out the final details this evening.

He is not new to Serie A, having already played for Parma from 2021 to January 2025, when he was sold to Leicester City for €3m.

However, Coulibaly made only five appearances for the Foxes.

Sassuolo had originally been targeting Samuele Birindelli, but talks broke down with Monza.

Meanwhile, the Neroverdi have also reportedly done a deal with Napoli to sign Cheddira on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

He had been close to Udinese, until they managed to get a breakthrough for Nicolò Zaniolo on loan from Galatasaray instead.

The summer transfer window in Serie A ends today at 20:00 CET (19:00 BST). Make sure you follow all the live updates and confirmed transfers on the Football Italia LIVEBLOG.
