Galatasaray are still interested in signing Inter midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu, with reports from Germany claiming that although a deal remains difficult, negotiations are ongoing and the Turkish side are dreaming of bringing the talismanic centre-mid back to his home country.
According to what has been reported by Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenburg, via FcInterNews, Galatasaray aim to use the final two weeks of the Turkish transfer window, which unlike the rest of Europe does not close until September 12, to push for a deal for the former Leverkusen player.
It has been a summer of drama and speculation for the Turkish midfielder, with Calhanoglu being publicly criticised by teammate Lautaro Martinez after the team’s exit from the Club World Cup. The Argentine slammed those players who do not want to be at the club but after some conversations and what appeared as a slightly staged photoshoot, the duo made up and began to look ahead to the new season.
Earlier in the summer, Calhanoglu was linked with a move to Turkey but with Inter’s demands for the midfielder set at a lofty amount, nothing concrete materialised from the interest at that time.
