Unfortunately for Manchester City, Rodri was replaced by Nico in the 88th minute of their 2-1 win over Arsenal due to injury. Pep Guardiola revealed after City’s win at the Etihad that Rodri had picked up a groin injury. Pep Guardiola’s side takes on Burnley tomorrow night at Turf Moor in another must-win Premier League fixture. It has now been revealed today that City will have to beat Burnley without their midfield general.

Rodri won’t play against Burnley tomorrow night.

Pep Guardiola was asked during his pre-game press conference today if Rodri would be available for Manchester City’s match against Burnley tomorrow night. Pep Guardiola revealed that Manchester City will be without Rodri tomorrow night, and his availability for Manchester City’s upcoming FA Cup semi-final is in doubt. He explained: “I think for tomorrow he will not be ready. We’ll see for next games the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton or 12 days later for the Premier League game at Everton.”

Also, Pep Guardiola revealed that Ruben Dias will not play against Burnley. Manchester City’s defensive leader has missed his team’s past four matches due injury. When asked if Ruben Dias was ready to play at Turf Moor, Guardiola said: “He is not yet ready.”

Manchester City will be relying on a player who was superb earlier this season to step into Rodri’s role.

With Rodri ruled out of Manchester City’s upcoming match against Burnley, Nico is likely to start in his place. Pep Guardiola also spoke of Nico’s contribution to Manchester City earlier this season. He told the media:” Nico Gonzalez has helped us a lot, a lot this season in the absence of Rodri, and he’s helped us to be in the position that we are right now.”

It is a blow for Manchester City to lose Rodri for tomorrow night’s match. However, that news isn’t a total surprise, given that Rodri was only injured on Sunday. The hope is that Rodri’s injury isn’t serious and he isn’t ruled out of action for too long. In Nico, City have more than adequate cover for Rodri. In fact, Nico is a fine defensive midfielder in his own right, and he will be ready to go tomorrow if, as expected, he is selected to start in Rodri’s place.
