Friday night football brings us a London derby at the London Stadium as West Ham take on Chelsea. With kick-off at 8 pm BST in London, 3 pm ET / 12 pm PT in the United States, both teams are searching for their first win of the season.

West Ham struggled on opening day and lost 3-0 at Sunderland, their new signings need to settle quickly.

Chelsea also didn't make a perfect start, they drew 0-0 at home to Crystal Palace after spending most of the game with the ball. Both teams need a spark to get their seasons up and running.

Chelsea Team News

Chelsea is missing a few players for the London derby. Levi Colwill is out long-term after ACL surgery, Benoît Badiashile and Romeo Lavia are injured. Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are not playing due to transfer issues and Wesley Fofana is slowly getting back to full fitness.

With several absentees, Chelsea's defensive options and rotation are limited for this game.

West Ham Team News

West Ham are without Luis Guilherme who is recovering from a shoulder injury in training. Crysencio Summerville is out with a thigh issue, but George Earthy is back in full training and might be in the squad.

The positives though include the availability of Callum Wilson, Jean-Clair Todibo, MaxKilman and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, all summer signings, meaning David Moyes has options available to improve his squad following their opening day defeat.

Predicted Lineups for Chelsea vs West Ham

West Ham should go 3–4–2–1 with Hermansen in goal. Todibo, Kilman and Aguerd in the back three with Wan-Bissaka and Diouf on the flanks. Álvarez and Souček sitting deep, Bowen and Paquetá behind Wilson up front.

Chelsea should line up a 4–2–3–1 with Maresca's favourite formation. Robert Sánchez in goal, Reece James, Tosin, Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella at the back. Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández in midfield, Cole Palmer behind João Pedro with Pedro Neto and teenage star Estevão on the wings.

Head-to-Head

This one has a long history and Chelsea has the edge overall. Around 124 games in all competitions and Chelsea has won 57 to West Ham's 44 with 23 draws. In the Premier League, it's even more one-sided with 32 wins to 58 games for Chelsea.

Chelsea has dominated the recent confrontations. Last season they completed the league double over West Ham, winning 3–0 at Stamford Bridge and 3–0 at the London Stadium.

Prediction for Chelsea vs West Ham

Bookies and prediction models are backing Chelsea. They give the visitors around a 58% chance of winning, West Ham 19% and a 24% chance of a draw.

West Ham will be up for it at home but their injury list and defensive uncertainty make this a tough ask. Chelsea's midfield control and Cole Palmer's creativity should give them the edge in what could be a tight game.

Prediction: West Ham 0–1 Chelsea.
