Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly exploring a deal for Matthis Abline, a French U21 international, according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath. The 22-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive season with Nantes, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.

Nantes Striker Matthis Abline Emerges As A Potential Summer Addition At Molineux

A Player On The Rise

Abline’s reputation in Ligue 1 has grown steadily, thanks to his combination of strength, movement, and composure in front of goal. His ability to adapt to different attacking roles makes him a valuable option, mainly deployed as a centre forward, although he has also made appearances on both wings. French football expert Andrés Onrubia Ramos has described Abline as “Unstoppable.” At just 22, the Frenchman still has room to develop, and his international experience at U21 level suggests that he has the mentality to make the step up to the Premier League.

How He Fits At Wolves

Vítor Pereira has shown a preference for flexible attacking options who can stretch defences and link play. Abline’s direct style and eye for goal could either provide competition for Jørgen Strand Larsen or link up with him from the wings. If Wolves can secure his signature, they would be adding a player who not only addresses the lack of depth in the attacking department but also has the potential to become a key figure in the seasons ahead.

Premier League Sides Also In The Frame

Wolves, however, are not the only Premier League side interested in signing Abline. It has been reported that Sunderland, Burnley, and Brentford are also interested in the Frenchman’s signature, as well as French Giants Marseille, who have had two bids in the region of £12 million rejected. This means that any move for the forward could spark a bidding war for his signature

With the summer transfer window heating up, this is certainly a story for Wolves fans to keep an eye on. Abline’s profile ticks a lot of boxes, and if a deal can be agreed, he could be the latest young talent to make his mark at Molineux.
