For the second straight year, Virginia's Gretchen Walsh has been named the ACC's Female Athlete of the Year. Walsh is the only swimmer, male or female, to be voted the ACC’s top athlete.
Virginia star swimmer Gretchen Walsh won the prestigious Honda Cup as the top Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. The other two finalists were UConn basketball star Paige Bueckers and Texas Tech softball player NiJaree Canady.

Connor Shellenberger and Gretchen Walsh were both recognized as the University of Virginia’s top athletes at the 2024-2025 Hoos Choice Awards. Walsh received the IMP Award as the top female athlete, while Shellenberger took home the WINA Award as the top male athlete.
All things considered, it was a great year of swimming for Team USA as the Paris Olympics yielded plenty of gold in the pool (16 Gold medals to be exact).
