Hey Amazon Prime members! Did you know you can pick up a mess of free games every month? Yep! And, if you haven’t been checking out this benefit, you’ve been missing out on a lot of titles for your collection. The games are available through several platforms, including Amazon’s own Game Launcher, GOG, Epic, and Legacy Games. Read on for this month’s selection!

Amazon Prime Gaming for September 2025

There are 12 games available to claim for FREE this month! And I see some very recognizable franchises in there. Let’s get gaming!

Fate: The Traitor Soul

Platform: GOG.com
This role-playing adventure game was initially released in 2009 by WildTangent Games.
Fight your way through dungeons with an invincible pet at your side. Collect armor, weapons, and spells to find your “fortune and glory!

Filthy Animals: Heist Simulator

Platform: Epic Games
Initially released in 2023 by Pewter Games Studios, LoPoly, and Green Man Gaming Publishing.
This looks just silly enough to be a blast! It’s described as an indie hack and slash, beat ’em up, adventure. It has cooperative, multiplayer, and single-player modes. You and up to 3 friends play as a mutant animal doing the bidding of “Tony, the Filthy Animal Bossman Criminal Mastermind” as you create chaos while committing a series of heists. Looks like fun!

Thief: Definitive Edition

Platform: GOG.com
Initially released in 2014 by Eidos-Montréal.
Did you miss out on Thief when it was released? Amazon Prime Gaming has your back because you can get this classic adventure RPG for free now. You play as the thief (duh!) Garrett, as you explore your city, break into the homes of the wealthy, and collect the loot.

Sid Meier’s Civilization III: Complete

Platform: GOG.com
Released in 2001 by Firaxis Games and 2K Games.
If you’ve somehow missed out on the jewel of turn-based strategy games, now is your chance to conquer the world in Civ III. Sure, this isn’t the most recent installment in the series, but it’s a classic and, if you haven’t played a Civilization game before, it’s a good start. If you have played before, it’s worth having it in your collection. Nostalgia is a thing! And it’s still an excellent game. I’ve spent many hours building empires!

Fantasy Empires

Platform: GOG.com
Released in 1993 by Silicon Knights and SNEG
Yeah, this Dungeons and Dragons game is from the last century. That sounds so old! OK, I see you looking like you’re seeing an artifact from ancient times. And maybe it is, but that doesn’t change the fact that Fantasy Empires is still worth experiencing. And some of you know this game already! Amazon Prime is offering the first game that includes a computer Dungeon Master to facilitate the game. What does that mean exactly? Guess you’ll have to claim it to find out! It includes single and multiplayer modes.

Heroes of Loot 2

Platform: GOG.com
Initially released in 2016 by Orangepixel and HandyGames.
You’re either going to love or hate the art style of Heroes of Loot 2. It’s described as an indie RPG, adventure, hack-and-slash, and beat-’em-up game. With single and multiplayer options, you play through the dungeon as all four characters (Elf, Wizard, Warrior, and Valkyrie), who each have a different style of attack.

City Legends: The Ghost of Misty Hill – CE

Platform: Legacy Games
Released in 2023 by Domini Games on Legacy Games.
You’ll have seen this type of point-and-click puzzle adventure on mobile before. It can be refreshing to play a casual game like this on PC, too. This time, you’re investigating a mental health hospital to find out what happened to your friend.

Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective

Platform: Amazon Games
Released in 2021 by Darjeeling and Plug In Digital.
In this indie puzzle adventure, you play as a detective who is searching for a lost stone. You’ll solve puzzles, meet interesting characters, and explore intricate and beautiful scenes. The unique thing about this title is that it’s based on a children’s book: Pierre the Maze Detective, Labyrinth City.

Dungeons & Dragons Silver Box Classics

Platform: GOG.com
Released in 1988 by Strategic Simulations, Inc., U.S. Gold Ltd., and SNEG.
This brings back memories! I first played a game like this on Nintendo (yes, the original NES). That one isn’t included in this collection, but I’m going to play them all anyway. Because I’m a sucker for nostalgia. Oops, have I dated myself there? This collection includes Heroes of the Lance, Dragons of Flame, War of the Lance, and Shadow Sorcerer. All of them are video game adaptations of the classic Dragonlance tabletop RPG modules. If you know, you know. And if you don’t, go find out. Read the books by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. You’ll thank me.

Tin Hearts

Platform: GOG.com
Released in 2023 by Rogue Sun and Wired Productions.
This looks amazing. You’re guiding some tin soldiers through various puzzles while learning the story of an inventor from Victorian times. It’s a single-player indie puzzle adventure. I don’t think I need to say anything else. Go claim it.

Necroking

Platform: GOG.com
Released in 2024 by KORO.GAMES and Plug In Digital.
The art style of this game made me wonder if it was an old game I had missed, but no, it’s a more recent title with a style that gives it that classic look. This game is described as an indie tactical adventure strategy card & board game. Woah. That’s a lot of categories. You’re a necromancer commanding the undead through deckbuilding with roguelite elements. Give it a go if you’re a deckbuilding fan!

The Academy: The First Riddle

Platform: Amazon Games
Released in 2020 by Pine Studio and Snapbreak Games AB.
This is an indie puzzle adventure in which you are Sam, a freshman student at The Academy. You’ll need the help of your friends at the school to solve the puzzles you find.

Time to Play!

The games from Amazon Prime Gaming give you quite a lot to choose from to fill your month. My opinion is that you should claim everything and then jump into whatever strikes your fancy when you have some free time. There are even games you can play with friends after they’ve claimed their copies!

When you claim your free games, they are yours forever! So add them to your collection right away, and you’ll never be bored. Don’t forget to follow us because we’ll keep you up on the latest gaming news!

Happy gaming!
