Killing Floor 3 is the sequel to the titular series. The game has been out for several months now, and the reception hasn’t been as positive as Tripwire and fans would have liked. Many players have reported issues with game performance, a noticeably different feel compared to previous games, and an overall unpolished experience. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid FPS zombie game. It’s violent, high-octane, and pretty fun. However, it lacks many aspects of the game that fans loved about the series. Here’s what gamers and critics have to say about it.
As soon as Killing Floor 3 was released, players experienced game performance issues such as freezing and dropped matches. This has caused players to believe that at release, the game was unpolished, citing that the system cannot handle all the intense zombie carnage we go through during matches. The game has come out with a lot of major updates that addressed these issues, but it left players wondering if the game should have been delayed even more than it already was, so these issues didn’t come about in the first place.
Another standout issue players have raised concern about is how different it felt from previous installments of the series. It feels like its own game; there isn’t much of a story behind it, and things can get repetitive really fast. Instead of an expansion of the second game, it’s almost a copycat, just expanding on in-game systems like weapons, skills, and characters.
Overall, it’s a solid zombie shooter game. But it definitely needed more. I didn’t feel that usual feeling I get when playing Killing Floor. The core is there, hidden beneath all the extra stuff that’s been added to the game, and I definitely agree that there needs to be much more polishing for the game to truly shine. Hopefully, in future updates, these issues can be addressed, and besides just a fun zombie game, we can get back to the Killing Floor series we all know and love.
