Angel Reese Shares Message After Lauren Betts Signs Reebok Deal

Reebok has joined in on the Lauren Betts hype train, as she recently became the fifth WNBA athlete to sign with the brand. This is something Angel Reese knew all too well as she welcomed Betts to the family with a simple four-word message.

“AHHHH! What’s up CHAMP!” Reese wrote on X about the rookie’s signing. Reese was in a similar position three years ago when the shoe apparel brand came calling at her door to offer her her very own signature shoe line, the Angel Reese 1.

Reebok is now doing the same with Betts, who is also reportedly set to receive her very own shoe deal soon.

In recent years, Reebok has shown interest in incorporating younger talent into its brand, just like it did with Reese. Betts follows the likes of Aneesah Morrow and even 28-year-old DiJonai Carrington.

Betts is coming off an incredible final year with the UCLA Bruins, where she led the team to its first national championship.

The 6’7 center averaged 17.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while winning both the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Naturally, Reebok was quick to jump on the opportunity of having Betts as the next big thing, providing she builds on the path she created through her performances at UCLA, with the Mystics as well.

Apart from Reese, Betts’ UCLA teammates were also quick to congratulate the center after crossing every hurdle in their collegiate career. “Yesss,” Gabriela Jaquez wrote on Reebok’s official Instagram announcement. “There she issss,” Charlisse Leger-Walker added.

However, this is the first time Reese and Betts have shown any signs of camaraderie between them. The duo had a pretty heated moment during the 2024 Sweet Sixteen clash between LSU and UCLA.

Angel Reese and Lauren Betts have Come a Long Way from their Collegiate Careers

The LSU Tigers beat the UCLA Bruins 78-69 in the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA tournament.

But at the end of the quarter, the score was tied 15-15. Reese and Betts got into a physical altercation after the former tried to grab a rebound, but was hit with Betts’ elbow.

This resulted in Reese getting a bloodied nose. While no foul was called on Betts, Reese ended up getting the last laugh after scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds in a Tigers victory.

It seems like both players have let bygones be bygones, as Reese also congratulated Betts after she won the national championship with the Bruins. “Congrats, Girly” she said. And now they will suit up under the same Reebok umbrella.

Meanwhile, the two are also likely to face each other on the hardwood again in a preseason game scheduled for May 4, when the Atlanta Dream will play the Washington Mystics.

So, which Reebok athlete do you think will shine the brightest at their first on-court clash in the WNBA?
