Hailey Van Lith has always been in the spotlight. While recently it was her pregame fashion that stole the show, some hard decisions from the Connecticut Sun had the player search for a new team. Surprisingly, despite getting waived by the Sun just a couple of days back, the 24-year-old has made an interesting decision to re-join the franchise on a developmental contract.
According to reports from Alexa Phillippou, “Breaking: 2025 No. 11 overall pick Hailey Van Lith will be re-joining the Connecticut Sun on a developmental contract, sources told me and @kendra__andrews.”

While there were other opportunities available to her, according to sources, Van Lith feels that staying in Connecticut…
The update further noted that Connecticut was not the only path open to her. While the former Chicago Sky star could have navigated more opportunities, Van Lith felt it was the right choice for her to stay in Connecticut. As per Phillipou, the WNBA star felt that the Sun would help her develop immediately and cater to her long-term goals.
Earlier, to bring in the French star, Leila Lacan, the Sun front office made a harsh decision to waive Van Lith. However, following the announcement, ESPN reported that the 24-year-old is “grateful to the Sun for their transparency and the opportunity.”
Meanwhile, as the developmental contract would be a new start, Van Lith’s current form wasn’t very encouraging.
Before Connecticut, the 24-year-old was part of the Chicago Sky roster. Sadly, just ahead of the 2026 WNBA season, Chicago decided to part ways with the former LSU star. Next up, roped in by the Sun, Van Lith had a strong start. But that did not last long.
Slowly, as her form began to drop, the star player mustered only 4.3 points in her last four games for Connecticut. Her shooting, too, had plummeted to 33.3%, while she had converted only 25% of her three-pointers.
Thus, getting a new opportunity, the 24-year-old will be eager to prove herself. Fans, too, will wait to see what happens next.
