The Dallas Wings proved no match to the Minnesota Lynx on Monday night in a battle between the top team in the WNBA against the bottom-dwelling Wings.

Paige Bueckers did all she could for Dallas in this one, scoring a team-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting, one rebound and two assists in 29 minutes of action. It was far from enough, though, as the Lynx went on to secure a dominant 96-71 win to improve to 32-8 on the season.

Dallas, on the other hand, suffered its eighth straight loss on Sunday. The Wings fell to 9-32, which remains the worst record in the entire WNBA.

Dallas head coach Chris Koclanes spoke to reporters after the game, and one of the aspects he highlighted was the performance of Lynx star Naphessa Collier, who is widely considered the favorite to win the MVP title this season.

Collier dropped 25 points on the Wings on 7-of-10 from the floor, to go along with three rebounds, an assist and three blocks in just 23 minutes of action. The 6-foot-1 forward’s incredibly efficient outing drew a brutally honest assessment from Koclanes.

“She just has so many counters," the Wings coach said of Collier, via Moreau Sports Media Prod Co. on X. "She’s as good as a 1-on-1 scorer as anyone. … It’s demoralizing at times when she’s scoring (continually) from 12 feet in.”

Collier had her way against a Wings defense that simply could not contain the three-time All-WNBA forward. In fact, Collier needed just 23 minutes to score her 25 points in what turned out to be a night of light work for the 28-year-old.

As for the Wings, their next chance to get back in the win column comes on Wednesday in another road game against the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center.
