WNBA Announces Angel Reese Update After Atlanta Dream Win

In just her third season in the WNBA, Angel Reese has already built a career that has surpassed that of most WNBA stars. On Monday, she added another milestone to her incredible résumé.

Reese and the Dream faced Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty at Barclays Center on Monday for their 43rd game of the season. Jordin Canada led Atlanta with 19 points, nine assists and three steals, while Reese added 18 points and 10 rebounds in nearly 34 minutes on the court.

Apart from securing the 95-84 victory, Reese made history with her 32nd double-double of the campaign. Not only did she extend her WNBA record for the most double-doubles in a single season, but she also tied Hall-of-Famer Yolanda Griffith for the 12th-most career double-doubles.

“Angel marked her 32nd double-double of the season, extending her own single-season record. This marked the 81st double-double of her career, tying Yolanda Griffith for the 12th most in WNBA history!” the WNBA announced after the Dream’s win.

Reese is also just one double-double away from tying another WNBA icon, Rebekkah Brunson, on the all-time list, per StatMuse. Brunson had 82 double-doubles in 15 seasons with the now-defunct Sacramento Monarchs and the Minnesota Lynx.

The Dream star should be able to crack the top 10 next season, with Tamika Catchings currently holding the spot with 96 double-doubles.

Climbing further after that will be a bit difficult for some time, though, since four players in the top 10 are expected to still be active next season.

Regardless, considering her double-double production, Reese should be able to climb into the top three in double-doubles as her career progresses.
