Mustafa Ali wants to elevate the X-Division in TNA.

Ali recently spoke with Straight Talk Wrestling about his current run in TNA. Revealed that his plan is to make the X-Division great again, parroting one controversial ex-President of the United States.

When asked if he has aspiration of becoming TNA World Champion, Mustafa Ali answered:

“Absolutely! But here’s the thing: I’m running a campaign right now. The only way to run a successful campaign is to be focused on the task at hand. Right now – there was no question that I was going to become the X-Division Champion. I knew this. But now, what I need to do is make the X-Division great again. That’s through title defences, promotion. “

“This title is so prestigious and has such a long lineage that we talked about, but when’s the last time it was great? I made sure that the X-Division Championship match, which I was, was the main event of the TNA pay per view. The last time that happened was 2005, 2006? It hasn’t happened, but Mustafa Ali took care of it. Now the X-Division is back in the prestigious spot it should be. It’s back, and we’re on the path to achieving greatness again.”

Mustafa Ali Downplayed Utilizing ‘Option C’

Later in the same interview, Ali refused to be drawn into discussion about utilizing “Option C”. Option C is when the X-Division Champion can vacate their title for a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, which was first done by Austin Aries in 2012.

Since then, seven wrestlers have exercised that option, with three of them walking away as world champion.

“Option C. Again, task at hand. Option C, I have a cabinet, I have campaign management. I have people to worry about these things. I have Secret Service, I have a press secretary. These matters will be addressed in a timely fashion, but right now the one goal is to make the X-Division great again.”
