Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Lex Luger was recently asked to give his thoughts on the WWE Hall of Fame. Luger is one of the biggest names who is long overdue for an induction.

"It would be enormous," Luger said on the Lex Expressed podcast. "It'd be a huge honor. Absolutely. I get asked that question a lot. A lot of guys go, 'Wait a second. You're not in?' A lot of people think I'm already in. A lot of people will introduce me as a Hall of Famer. They say WWE and I go 'Well, no, actually I'm not a WWE Hall of Famer yet.'"

Luger said that people ask him why he's not in and he's not sure why and he doesn't know what the criteria is to get inducted but he feels that he has the credentials to get in. Luger acknowledged that some things that happened out of the ring may be why he hasn't gotten the call yet.

"I don't know if that's a factor or not, but it may be controversial," Luger said. "Some people felt like the wrestling world kind of shunned me for quite a while over some of the things that happened outside of the ring that we can obviously go into at the proper time when we want to in the future."

Luger said that if that's the reason why he's not in then he understands and he celebrates those who have been inducted. He continued, "So if I never get in, I still look back fondly with my career and what I did accomplish, but man, it definitely would be the whipped cream and cherry on top and a huge honor if I ever do."

Luger left WWE in 1995 and jumped to WCW without telling Vince McMahon because he was told by Eric Bischoff to keep it top secret. He became a controversial figure after WCW closed down because of his substance abuse issues and a 2003 WWF Confidential episode covered Luger and Miss Elizabeth's downfall and the drug issues that led to her death. That episode gave some fans the impression that Luger caused her death. Luger was never charged with her death and it was determined that Elizabeth overdosed.

In recent years, Luger has been under contract with WWE as an ambassador and he appeared last week on a live WWE program for the first time since 1995 last week when he was interviewed on The Bump.
