WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair isn’t afraid to tell how he really feels about something. In a recent interview, Flair was asked about the WWE 2K25 game that was released on March 14, 2025, and if he was surprised that he wasn’t in it.
While speaking with Escapist Magazine, Flair wasn’t surprised he wasn’t in the new WWE 2K game, considering he is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling. Though it also didn’t bother him not being in the game, because, according to him, it only pays well if you’re on the cover. He said:
“I knew about it, but I didn’t expect to be, as I’m still under contract at AEW. Unless you’re on the cover, you don’t make any money anyway. Maybe 0.3% or some d–n thing!”
Who is on the cover and getting the big bucks? Roman Reigns is on the standard edition of the game, while WWE Hall of Famer Undertaker is on the Deadman edition, and there is the Bloodline edition, which is, of course, Reigns and his former stablemates – Paul Heyman, Solo Sikoa, Sami Zayn, The Usos, Jacob Fatu, Tonga Loa, and Tama Tonga.
Flair signed with AEW in November 2023. His last television appearance was during a tribute to Steve “Mongo” McMichael on the May 17, 2025, episode of AEW Collision. Before it was in March 2024, when he was in the corner for Sting’s retirement match at the Revolution pay-per-view. The match saw then-AEW Tag Team Champions Sting and Darby Allin successfully retain the titles against The Young Bucks.
Flair isn’t the only Hall of Famer who isn’t impressed too much by the game. Earlier this year, Booker T was upset over WWE 2K25 because of what WWE rated his 2001 gimmick. The game gave him a rating of 77. The Hall of Famer called it “personal” on his podcast. His standard character is ranked at 85. Another thing that irked him was that ECW Original The Sandman is higher, with an 86.
While we know Booker T and Flair’s opinion on the game, how do critics feel about it? Pretty favorable. IGN gave the game an 8 out of 10,while Game Informer Magazine was just a little higher and gave it an 8.25 out of 10. Also, GameRant scored it a 9 out of 10. Looking at all the critics' reviews in one place, Metacritic, the game has an 80 out of 100. Though fan reviews are much lower, with a 6.1 out of 10. So, while the game has been out for some time, it’s still causing debate.
