  • Triple H praises Seth Rollins' plan and Becky Lynch for helping him retain at Clash in Paris.
  • Becky revealed as the black-clad ally, low blow on Punk, and now The Vision's newest member.
  • Triple H compares Rollins-Lynch to the McMahon-Helmsley era — signs of a new power couple era.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque knows a few things about having a spouse in the pro-wrestling business. He married the boss’s (well, now former boss) daughter, Stephanie McMahon. The two have banded together several times to wreak havoc on the rest of the locker room for their own gain. So it wasn’t too surprising to hear him give praise for how WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins retained his title on Sunday at the Clash in Paris PLE.

Triple H Praises Seth And Becky For Working Together

During the Clash in Paris post-show, The Game gave kudos to Rollins for coming up with a plan since his Vision stablemates were not in the Paris La Défense Arena to assist him. When it looked like Rollins' chips were down and Punk was about to hit the GTS for the pin, a person dressed in black came into the ring, revealing it was Becky Lynch, and delivered a low blow to Punk, and the rest is history. Rollins is still the champion, and Becky is the newest member of The Vision. He said:

“What’s that old saying, ‘Behind every great man is a greater woman.’ That has been my life, right? For me and I have had that play out in my career. You know for Seth Rollins, just when you think all his cards are on the table and he’s got nothing left, he’s by himself, he’s left alone, no [Paul] Heyman, no Bron Breakker, no Bronson Reed, he’s by himself, he’s always got an ace up his sleeve. And what better ace than his legendary wife come out here and put him over the top. I would imagine CM Punk is gonna wanna have a conversation about that. But kudos to Seth Rollins for always finding a way. A wise man said a long time ago, ‘Always have a plan B.’ Seth Rollins got an A a B a C a D. He’s got them all.” (h/t: TJR Wrestling)

So with Triple H’s track record, it’s not surprising that he was impressed with Rollins’ plan.

A Very Brief Look At The McMahon-Helmsley Era

For those who grew up watching the Attitude Era, you probably remember the infamous McMahon-Helmsley Era storyline that began in late 1999 and lasted for only a couple of years. Stephanie and Triple H were a powerful heel couple, mirroring the present Rollins and Lynch. Though it’s worth mentioning that Stephanie and Triple H weren’t married during that time, they actually got married in 2003.

During that time, Triple H held the WWF Championship twice (with help of course), while Stephanie held the WWF Women’s Championship once. She only got the title because of interference and help by former WWF Superstar Tori. It was a mockery to Jacqueline, who was the one who lost the title to McMahon. The match only lasted for 40 seconds.

The faction, which included not only Stephanie and Triple H, but at one time other members were X-Pac, Tori, Vince and Shane McMahon, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, Pat Patterson, and Gerald Brisco. The faction feuded with the likes of The Rock, Kane, Mankind, Chris Jericho, Too Cool, Big Show, and even Steve Blackman. So is this the Rollins-Lynch Era? So far it’s looking like it is.
