So, we're doing this again, huh? While I was tempted to simply re-post my NLCS breakdown from last year, I figured I should take another look at these two teams and see how they compare this time around. The Phillies have proven again and again that they can win any game, no matter how great the deficit or how much of an underdog people think they are. Do they have it in them to get past the Dodgers and back into the World Series? Here is my position-by-position breakdown of the two teams:Starting Pitching:Phillies: Cole Hamels, Joe Blanton, Cliff Lee, Pedro MartinezDodgers: Clayton Kershaw, Randy Wolf, Chad BillingsleyThe Game One matchup is set, with Cole Hamels facing off against Clayton Kershaw. After that, both teams are keeping it close to the vest as to who they plan to send to the mound. If Cliff Lee continues to dominate and Hamels bounces back, the Phillies will have a big advantage at starting pitcher. The Dodgers do feature a pair of lefty starters that could ...

With Cole's Little Boy Healthy, Hamels is Focused On Dodgers
It's hard to really rip into Cole Hamels for his lackluster showing in the NLDS this year. The birth of your first child surely has to weigh on any guy, Cole not excluded. It's encouraging to hear him say "now I can really focus on baseball, not that I wasn't focused to begin with." We know what you mean.View more news videos at: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com...
NLCS Game 1 Recap: Phillies 8, Dodgers 6
What happened?
The Phillies used the long ball to back a shaky start from Cole Hamels, as Brad Lidge saves his third straight postseason game in the win.
Who did what?
Cole Hamels (W, 1-0) allowed four runs on eight hits in five and a third. He walked one and struck out four.
Ryan Howard went 1 for 3 [...]
Cole Hamels Drives A Camaro, Is A Good Actor
Here's a fun local Chevrolet commercial starring Phillies pitcher Cole Hammels where he openly admit to owning a Camaro. And to not being able to act his way out of a wet nutsack. That, or they shot him full of painkillers to make the Camaro admission.
Does Cliff Lee have a chance at replicating Hamels' 2008 run?
Cole Hamels(notes) gets the nod in tonight's NLCS Game 1, but the truth is that the reigning NLCS and World Series MVP is far from being the Phillies' current ace. So who's currently starring for Philadelphia in the role of Cole Hamels? Why, fellow lefty Cliff Lee(notes), of course. Actually, if you compare the numbers of the Hamels from '08 postseason to the '...
Phils win, but Hamels’ display disappoints
Cole Hamels may have come away with the win tonight but his behavior after Chase Utley’s 5th-inning throwing error was disturbing.
After Utley failed to complete a double play Chase threw his arms up in the air and stared in Utley’s direction. Not extremely demonstrative and I can understand his frustration, but you do not show [...]
The Day After: Kershaw goes kerplunk, Chooch goes yard
As you try to figure out what Larry King was doing with Balloon Boy at Dodger Stadium last night, we take a spin around the Internet to see what the bloggers and bards are saying about the Phillies' victory in Game 1 of the NLCS. Jon Weisman, Dodger Thoughts: "It wasn't the game of a lifetime. It was the game of nine lifetimes. The Dodgers had more looks at tonight...
NLCS Game 1 Thread vs. Fillies, 5p
The playoff beards of Clayton Kershaw.
Cole Hamels (0-0, -.--) vs. Clayton Kershaw (0-0, -.--).
Hey, they reset pitching stats after each round. Who knew? Anyhoo, it's time to put aside Dodger Divorce Thoughts and refocus on the here and now: 21-year-old Kershaw, who in two years has gone from callow rookie fireballer to grizzled (see above) NLCS Game 1 starter. Kershaw...
