if he leaves next season will really suck. Hopefully he did this to get some leverage when negotiating for an extension.

I'm shocked. I thought he would take the $18M regardless. But even as a Warriors fan, this move makes me proud of Baron. Clearly he's not chasing more money. He can't get more than $18M next season. No one has that kind of $$$ to throw around. He's putting happiness first. Maybe that's a long-term deal in the Bay at a discount, maybe not. Baron should do whatever Baron wants to do. He's earned that right with his play on the court and his leadership off the court.

I think Baron is tired of losing in GS and wants to play somewhere else...Think about it, Baron and GSW run the same offence with no big men with the West Loaded with bIg men...eventually you lose due to lack of big men (Jazz in playoffs a couple years back) and this past yr coodnt make it in playoffs, though their offense is awesome to watch.

He is also in his prime and I think hes being smart with all his options , stay in GS and lose with lots of money, go some where else gets lots of money, retire and become a movie director and get lots of money. Whatever it is, Its a WIN WIN for Baron. For Fans its different.. Until further news lets just hope Baron doesnt go to the Celtics, Pistons or Spurs.

I feel sorry for GS fans, I know a lot are dropping off the bandwagon but the real ones, this really sucks for them if he doesn't return. Good news is that Ellis is becoming a star and you guys got Stephen Jackson, Matt Barnes, Harrington. The team might survive with the young talent developing on the team. Baron could resign with the team though.

After two straight years of good health I think it's doubtful that he can make it three in a row. Better to take the long-term deal while he can get it.

As a true GSW fan, I can't knock him for trying to get something long-term, even if it ain't with Golden State. Last year was his first full season without injuries like previous years and he was able to pull this team back into the spotlight. Much love for BD and I hope we can still get him back here next year!!

As good as Baron is, and he's had some fine moments as a Warrior, he needs a better supporting cast built around him. Moreover, as much as I like Baron, I have to be critical of his shot selection at times, and his unorthodox method of shooting free throws. Listen, Baron makes a few more throws, and who knows where the Warriors could have ended up. Certainly they were as good as many teams in the West, and could have made the playoffs--now with him opting out--get used to transition; the WARRIORS DILEMMA FOR 30 YEARS!

his shot selection is what made him so good, because he took the risk of taking the ball to the basket when he knew that they needed to score no matter what.

in synchronized swimming, we have these things called lifts, where we throw girls out of the water or lift them over our head, now sometimes the ppl underneath have a hard time to get the base out of the water to make the lift work... my coach would say... i dont care whats happening under there, u make the lift work no matter what... I mean i dont know if any of u guys understand what im saying.. but Baron always does whatever it takes to make a shot, which includes taking crazy shots. Same with Monta.

He has an amazing team supporting him, and now without him., theres no way to complete the puzzle.

It's sad that Baron leaves the Bay, but I hope that wherever he goes that he finds success. It's not an easy decision to walk away from $18 mil unless there's something better out there.

I'm kind of bitter about his decision, but i'll bite my tongue on what I really thing about it. Next year will be a sad one for sure if he's not there. Such a great leader and role model for kids around here. The we will miss him for sure.

I'm with Uprock I'm bitter about this move too. Unless Baron goes to a playoff contention team and gets paid the money he demands then he is just a sell out. Thats right I said it. In one of his blogs he said he wants to stay in the Bay cause he has great chemistry with his teammates and they were still a winning team. But now he opted out of a for sure 17.8 Million to try and get more money out of the Warriors? What is up with athletes wanting to go to a losing team for more money? Cause usually those are the only teams that can afford the players that demand a huge contract. Isnt the main goal as a player is to get to the playoffs and win a championship?

i dont know why people gave u thumbs down, truth hurts probably...Baron be a dummy if he plays for Clippers, they really have a dangerous team (sarcasm). Tim Thomas will lead them to the promise land with Sam Cassell and Robert Horry doing them and Hopping on teams that win championships without their help..., first time reunited since Glory Days with Hakeem, Mario Elie and Vernon MAxwell.

Clippers drafted Eric Gordon who plays like Baron and can shoot from anywhere, so I dont get why they would go after Baron but then again they got Darkness running the pt, Brevin Knight whose stats were horrendous for a PG....Supposedly Arenas for Baron is possible but then again Rumors are rumors, lacking validity and just sheer nonsense.

People are harsh, thumbing this down. I wouldn't just like Baron Davis on the Clippers....I'd LOVE IT! A starting lineup of Davis-Gordon-Thornton-Brand-Kaman is a lot sexier than Clippers fans have seen in a long time. And the thing is, it's totally possible. Sure, Baron comes with a hefty price tag, but Maggette opted out. If we get Baron, we can let Maggette walk. And Elton Brand basically opted out so that he could take a paycut - he wanted to give the Clippers more payroll flexibility so they could make a move just like this.
