COULD NEW OFFENSE CHANGE THE GAME?

DONTE'S OPINION: THIS OFFENSE HAS NO PLACE IN THE NFL!!!

A reader has forwarded to us an intriguing story from Rivals.com regarding a new offense that has been developed on the high school level.

It's called the A-11, and it's designed to spread the field by making the defense believe that literally any of the players can end up with the ball in their hands.

The attack is the product of the brain of Kurt Bryan, the coach at Piedmont (Calif.) High School.

The base formation involves a center flanked by two tight ends, with three receivers to the right and three to the left. And two quarterbacks in the backfield. (Jon Gruden likes it already.)

"Going into the [2007] season, we thought that either we're going to get fired or we're going to transform the game because of the innovative aspects and the wealth of ideas," Bryan said. "Luckily, it turned out to be the latter."

Though we're having trouble imagining the thing working in pro football, we can see some of the college teams giving it a try, possibly as a change-of-pace attack aimed at creating confusion and speed-based mismatches.

There's a web site devoted to the offense, and a quick review of it addressed some of our basic questions and concerns. Meanwhile, we're going to try to figure out whether the formation could be used at the NFL level without violating any of the applicable rules.

yea i posted bout that hours ago .....check it out.....i drop some funny lines in their.....it be awesome if teams started doing it, my only problems are whose the backup being put in and if the offense can get used to the chaos....Trent Edwards and Jp in Buffalo...my team would be eli and David Carr (idk bout this) and the best one i believe would have been Vick and Matt Ryan...but sadly enough Vick is where he shouldnt be....Warner and Leinart isnt bad either..

I see this type offense just like the option attack in college. In the lower levels of high school and possibly college where everyone isn't the all american pro type of player it could work. But in the NFL its the best of the best and everyone is fast and strong at every position. The ground game is a pretty consistent theme in all levels of the game and I don't see it making it all the way to the NFL. It'd be pretty entertaining to watch tho.

Most teams can't even find one QB who is great.

This is like the spread in college only on steriods it'll never work in the NFL but HS and College it can work. Basically i agree with JonnyH(point up)

Best tandem would be Mcfadden and Jarmarcus HANDS DOWN and i am not a raider fan. You have Qbs who can run and catch or atleast one who can for it to make sense. I've seen it and the QB is always rolling out and doing options and quick screens

It reminds me of flag football. The offense is only legal in high school under National Fed Rules. NCAA and NFL can't run in that formation b/c it would be an illegal formation. In high school, they can do it b/c it is by rule, a punt formation. All number rules aren't in effect in a punt. That's why it is important that the QB be 7 yards back. As an official, I would hate to have call a game with that.

for the last time booker vick is right where he should be . this offense wouldnt work in the nfl the two qbs would get killed. but if a team was to run it i would go with brett favre and aaron rodgers hey pack theres your chance to have both put this offense in now lol
