IRVING - NT Jay Ratliff and S Gerald Sensabaugh have been outstanding.
Not bad for guys who entered the league as a seventh-round pick (Ratliff by Dallas in 2005) and a fifth-round pick (Sensabaugh by Jacksonville in 2005).
Ratliff has been a beast in the middle. But that's no surprise. He's been a handful for opposing centers ever since he moved into the starting lineup in 2007 after Jason Ferguson suffered a season-ending injury in the opener.
Sensabaugh has been the surprise. Based on the recommendations of secondary coach Dave Campo and special teams coach Joe DeCamillis, who coached him in Jacksonville, the Cowboys figured the North Carolina product would do a solid job.
But the truth is he's been outstanding. He was all over the field against Atlanta, giving TE Tony Gonzalez fits and making big play after big play.
And he did it all while wearing a cast to protect his surgically repaired thumb.
