Westbrook excited about offensive help

Whether DeSean Jackson, who again missed practice at Philadelphia Eagles' minicamp on Monday with a hamstring injury, picks up the offense or stays healthy enough to make a major contribution to the Eagles this year remains to be seen.

But running back Brian Westbrook sure is happy to have him and some of the other offensive newcomers around.

Westbrook, who abruptly canceled a scheduled press conference last week, made up for it by having one on Monday, when he wasn't expected to speak. What he said represented at least a slight shift from his slightly less enthusiastic position early last month.

"I'm excited about our offense," Westbrook said. "I was excited about our offense last year, and I think we've improved a little bit from last year to this year with the addition of DeSean Jackson, Lorenzo (Booker), L.J. (Smith) being healthy.

"We know that Kevin (Curtis) and Reggie (Brown) are going to get it done on our side, so I'm definitely excited about those guys as well. We are another year mature, another year playing together as an offense."

Thanks for the read CK. Hopefully with the addition of Booker, he can take a little of the load off of Westbrook. He's done so much for the offense over the years and means so much to the team. Plus with the nagging knee that Westbrook seems to have, I'm sure the addition of Booker will help.

I'm sure the FO knows what they have in Westbrook, however, he's one player who they need to sit down with and rework the numbers on his contract.

Good post! The addition of Booker can make Westbrook even more of a weapon. I'm excited as well. Especially if we get Chad Johnson. ONLY KIDDING!!!!
That poster is plastered all over my kids' rooms. I LOVE IT!!!

Class act, Brian Westbrook at it again!!! How can't you love this guy? This season can't start fast enough.

we need to fix his contract and soon. as for the mention of desean, they are blowing it far out of proportion. trust me i ought to know.

The only thing that scares me about the FO is that they usually don't dull out big bucks to players who are over 30. With running back being the most volatile of positions, hopefully Westbrook doesn't become a causality due to his "age".

you're right latin they don't!!!

I do like the new addition of Booker though. I think he has surprised the coaching staff thus far in how quickly he is able to pick up the playbook and how well he runs routes/catches the ball. He could not only "fill in" when Westy is on the bench, but could also provide HUGE match-up problems when both of them are on the field. DeSean will work his way onto the field and he too has been a pleasant surprise in camp thus far. Hopefully his injury will heal quickly and we'll have a chance to see him perform at a high level during training camp/pre season.

i do as well, some different moves, we'll see........can't lose BWEST though, he's too important, well to me anyway!!!

Booker is good addition, for westbrook,I still would like a big back--like duece mcalister of saints, with power and speed---why would you draft tony hunt, they should of draft a true running back,to run between the tackles period--a wasted pick---but overall westbrook is the man,bar none a dog on the field,anybody--should get any more money is ROUTE 36--HOLLA AT YOUR BOY!!!!!AND LORENZO BOOKER IS GOOD IN SPACE--A NIGHTMARE FOR DEFENSE'S

with b-west and everyone keying in on him. it should leave a couple of people open!!! even without the ball b-west is a threat!!! he is our true franchise player!!! now only if we can can get the soup man to stay healthy we can be ok this year!!!! in b-west i trust!!!!
