San Diego Chargers
Kansas City Chiefs
My 2013 fantasy football breakout star coming out of the AFC West is Chargers' wide receiver Vincent Brown. Other nominees considered were Chiefs' wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (a "breakout" compared to the last few seasons in KC), Broncos' running back Montee Ball and Raiders' receiver Denarius Moore.
No question the San Diego Chargers' offense was placed behind the eight ball this preseason. First, they lost Danario Alexander (my previous breakout stud) to a torn ACL, then Malcom Floyd injured his knee, rookie receiver Keenan Allen has had knee issues, and then Eddie Royal bruised a lung.
This opens the door for Brown and Antonio Gates to flourish within Mike McCoy's offense. When I spoke with Chargers' beat reporter , Michael Gehlken, last month, he said Brown's role out of the slot is crucial to McCoy's underneath passing routes. He could be in for a big year and worthy of a look after the 10th round.

It seems like every year the Dolphins release or trade a super talented football player for no reason. It has happened continuously for the past several years. From Brandon Marshall, to Chad Ochocinco, to Vontae Davis, to Sean Smith, they just don’t know when to stop. Just yesterday the Dolphins cut corner back Richard Marshall […]
Who are 3 QBs you’re specifically trying to avoid on Draft Day and who are some high upside options that can be secured later in 2-QB drafts? But, if I had to choose three QBs that I would prefer not to be on my fantasy 2-QB team this year they would be Mark Sanchez, Matt Flynn, and Philip Rivers. I probably won’t have to worry too much about Sanchez, as it looks like rookie...
The new-look Chargers offensive line was missing a familiar face for the second straight day Tuesday - center Nick Hardwick.
Is Hardwick the latest to be sidelined by the injuries that have marked rookie coach Mike McCoy's first camp?
Says Hardwick: ''I'm good.''
But when asked if he was healthy, Hardwick says: ''You've got to talk to the coach...
San Diego Chargers linebacker Melvin Ingram tore his ACL on May 14, the second day of offseason practice. He had surgery May 22, Ingram and the team are hoping it will be a six month recovery time. If Ingram was able to come back to play within six months that would leave a late November or early December return.
“The six-month mark is where we’ve been really pushing to...
The San Diego Chargers received good news yesterday
regarding injured linebacker Manti Te’o when the second-round pick shed the
walking boot that’s been protecting his sprained right foot. While that was a
step in the right direction, Te’o still isn’t practicing with the team and isn’t
expected to suit up for their third preseason contest, according to the Associated Press...

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By ARNIE STAPLETON AP Pro Football Writer Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball stood out for all the wrong reasons last weekend.
Denver's young running backs want to atone for their big blunders when the Broncos host the St. Louis Rams on Saturday night in what's essentially the final dress rehearsal for the regular season.
Hillman fumbled when he tried...
The NFL has officially fined Chicago Bears rookie middle linebacker Jon Bostic $21,000 for his huge hit against the San Diego Chargers recently.
We are heading into the 3rd week of preseason action and as far as action in the preseason goes, this is the closest thing we get to regular season football. For the most part we’ll see the 1st team Offense and 1st Team Defense playing at least a full half before seeing the 2nd and 3rd string players on the field. This is both a good and bad thing for Fantasy Football. Why it’s...
Greatness is rare in the NFL. It’s just a function of the sport. It’s really hard to put together a team of 53 guys that’s significantly better than 31 other teams of 53 guys. It’s not like basketball where you can luck into three great players who give you dominion over the league for half a decade.
You need almost everything to break your way to reach that level. You need...

Via Deadspin (with a hat tip to UPROXX reader Beer Guy Rob) comes this video of a feisty and considerably drunk pugilist outside of Wrigley Field. The video’s title leads us to believe that the inebriated man in gray is a St. Louis Cardinals fan, as this took place after the Cubs laid a 7-0 hurting on the Redbirds last Friday, but I don’t think that he is.After all, Cardinals...
