The Bull Gator:
Just one day after adding outside linebacker Matt Rolin to their 2013 football recruiting class, the Florida Gators lost another at the same position. Quinton Powell decided the numbers didn’t work in his favor and reopened his recruitment.
Powell’s exit doesn’t come as much of a surprise. There were rumors that he would still look around after finding out the Gators weren’t done adding linebackers to their class. With the commitment of Rolin, the writing was on the wall that Florida would continue to find the right fits for their defense. Powell decided that he might not be one of those fits anymore.
Rolin joined Daniel McMillian, James Hearns and Keanu Neal (although Neal is also listed at safety where he will most likely play) on the Gators’ commitment list. Word had been that Powell wasn’t happy with the numbers for quite some time and wanted to take additional visits.
The 6’2”, 194-pound OLB from Daytona Beach, FL (Mainland) will now turn his attention to possible visits t...

The recruiting train hasn’t stopped for the Florida Gators. On Wednesday, four-star wide receiver Demarcus Robinson flipped his commitment from Clemson to Florida and instantly became one of the most important members of the 2013 recruiting class. Florida flipped Demarcus Robinson on Wednesday and they now have the top wide receiver in Georgia on their commitment list. Robinson is a big get for the Gators.
The Florida Gators are peaking at the right time as the move closer and closer to National Signing Day. Will Muschamp, Brian White and Joker Phillips will arrive for the in home visit around 5pm today. When they do they will greet the newest Florida Gator Demarcus Robinson.
Florida safety Matt Elam capped off a strong season by being named a first team AP All-American. The Gators also placed punter Kyle Christy, defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd and kicker Caleb Sturgis on the third team.
No one expected an 11-1 regular season in Gainesville. The Gators opened the season ranked No. 23 in the polls without an identity on offense. The defense was set with experienced players coming back, but there weren’t All-Americans or household names covering the roster. That changed as the season continued to progress and the Gators had multiple players go through breakout years.
Florida head coach Billy Donovan will be in a position he has been in just once all season when the Gators tip off at Arizona on Saturday. He’ll have his entire roster available. No suspensions, no concussions, no nagging injuries. The only other time that happened was before Florida’s 33-point pummeling of Marquette. The full roster means Donovan has plenty of chess pieces to play.
