Found February 05, 2013 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
After Sunday's win over LA, the Celtics will travel north of the border to face the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors are a bad 17-31 and eleventh in the eastern conference. The Celtics, since Rondo went down, are an undefeated 4-0. That steak has gotten them back above the .500 mark. The Celtics are hot, the Raptors are not, but they still have to try. Here are tomorrow's five things: 5. GET COLLINS TO THE FOUL LINE: The performance that Jason Collins put on on Sunday instantly made him a fan favorite in my book. I was surprised at how well he shot free throws, making each of his five attempts. Get him the ball inside, have him draw a foul, and you get an easy 2 points. 4. KEEP GIVING BARBOSA THE BALL: Leandro Barbosa has really stepped up since the injury to Rondo. On Sunday, he had a great 14 points(T-2nd on team) on 5/10 shooting. If he's making his shots consistently like this, then keep giving him the ball. 3. REBOUND: The Celtics, despite winning, were out-rebounded 41-29. This was perhaps the most lopsided stat of the night. I understand that that was the Clippers, but come on. You have to do a little better. 2. GET A BIG FIRST HALF LEAD: If the Celtics hadn't had that 19 point half time lead on Sunday, they would've lost. In my opinion, the first half is more important than the second. It sets the momentum of the game. You have to have momentum in order to get confidence. 1. MAKE SURE PIERCE GETS THE BIG SHOTS: If the Celtics are down by 1, have the ball, and there is under 10 seconds on the game clock, I want Pierce to shoot it. He proved with that clutch three that pressure doesn't bug him in important situations. Tip-off for tomorrow's game will be at 7:00 pm ET. Live Game Updates will be available here.

Doc Rivers: Media made up trade rumors

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says the recent trade rumors around the teams star players have all been made up by the media. "All from [the media]," the Celtics' coach said

KG responds to trade rumors

Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett responded to the rumors that the Los Angeles Clippers are trying to acquire him in a trade.

Vote: Who Has Stepped Up the Most in Rajon Rondo’s Absence?

It was only just over a week ago that we learned that the Celtics would be without (probably) their best player, Rajon Rondo, for the remainder of the season. Since that time, Boston has gone 4-0. Are the Celtics somehow a better team without their point guard? That may be a question for another day, but right now we’re asking what player has stepped up the most in Rondo’s absence...

Kevin Garnett on Trade Rumors: “I Bleed Green, But It’s a Business”

I am on record saying that the Celtics window has closed and it is time to blow up the team. KG and Paul Pierce would be considered valuable assets to teams who are in a position to make a NBA Finals run.  Every trade should be explored by Danny Ainge at this point. KG has a no trade clause, but from these quotes it appears if the right trade came around he would be interested....

Doc Rivers Calls Celtics Trade Rumors Silly, Media Driven

With the loss of Rajon Rondo for the remainder of the season with an ACL injury, there have come a ton of trade rumors regarding their two biggest stars, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. The two players have laughed the rumors off, but Doc Rivers has not, and according to ESPN Boston, Rivers referred to them as “silly and media driven.” “All from [the media],” the Celtics...

Erik Spoelstra considering replacing Rondo with Bosh as All-Star starter

Tweet With Rajon Rondo’s torn ACL removing him from the NBA All-Star game, Brook Lopez was recently announced as his replacement on the roster. However, what has yet to be addressed is who will take Rondo’s spot in the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference. Many people believed that Cavs guard Kyrie Irving was the [...]

Garnett powers Celtics past Raptors 99-95 for fifth straight win

Kevin Garnett leads the Celtics past the revamped Raptors 99-95 to extend the winning streak to five. Toronto was a part of the only blockbuster trade that’s gone down so far this season and they acquired the best player in the deal in Rudy Gay. Gay and Demar DeRozan did not waste any time in this game as the high-flying wings scored the Raptors first 10 points. Kevin Garnett...

Recap: C’s ride vintage KG, clutch Barbosa to disjointed, ugly win

Allow me to be the first to reference a “turn back the clock performance” by Kevin Garnett.  KG put up 27 and 10 to carry the Celtics… and he did it in just 32 minutes and 18 shots.  Leandro Barbosa chipped in 14 points, 12 in the 4th quarter, to erase a 10 point Raptors lead to start the 4th, and steal a 99-95 win. How night-and-day was this game?  The Raptors won the 1st...

Garnett And Pierce Quiet Trade Rumors, Lead Celtics To Fifth Straight Post-Rondo

Celtics 99, Raptors 95 Earlier this week Kevin Garnett responded to rumors that the Celtics core players may be traded with a simple, defiant phrase. He told reporters, “I bleed green” and in Boston’s fifth consecutive win at Toronto on Wednesday night, he proved it. Garnett posted a vintage line with 27 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes, while shooting an efficient 11-18...

Celtics Still Have What It Takes to Beat Miami in Playoffs Despite Injuries to Jared Sullinger, Rajon Rondo (Podcast)

The Celtics may have lost both Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger for the season due to injuries, but the team’s recent play wouldn’t suggest any problems. Boston has won four in a row since Rondo went down, and the team appears to be rolling right along despite whatever injury troubles pop up. While Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce‘s names swirl in trade rumors, however, the Celtics...

Kevin Garnett won't waive his no-trade clause ... unless Paul Pierce is dealt

Kevin Garnett won't be waiving the no-trade clause in his contract. That is, unless Paul Pierce is traded. That's according to sportswriter Shaun Powell. And there's a second condition for a KG trade. He'll only go to Los Angeles because he lives in Malibu. The Sporting News reported Sunday that the Clippers were offering Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler in...

Celtics-Raptors Live: Rudy Gay Welcomes Kevin Garnett, Celts to His New Home North of Border

8 a.m. ET: The Raptors got a whole lot more interesting last week when the perennial Atlantic Division also-rans picked up Rudy Gay in a three-team trade with the Grizzlies and Pistons. They still sit comfortably outside the playoff picture — at 17-31, they are 7 1/2 games behind the Celtics in the race for the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference — but they did begin Gay’s...

Kendrick Perkins Provides Support for Rajon Rondo in ACL Recovery, Says Biggest Hurdle Will Be Mentally

Rajon Rondo is looking at a long road back from ACL surgery, but he’ll have a familiar face helping him along as he recovers. Former Celtics teammate Kendrick Perkins, now with the Oklahoma City Thunder, had a similar injury in 2010, when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing the Lakers in the NBA Finals. Perkins was back on the court within seven...

In The Scrum With Dwane Casey

Dwane Casey spent most of his pre-game media session tonight raving about Andrea Bargnani. Casey talked with the media about the effort he has seen from Bargnani on the glass in practice, what it means to the team having their two injured seven-footers back and he breaks into the "psychology" of coaching the talented Italian.
