Now, we've seen everything.
Nats 11, Astros 10: The beauty of the 2009 Washington Nationals is that on any given night there's a really good chance you'll see something you've never seen before and/or couldn't possibly imagine (even under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs). Usually, it's something going horrifically wrong for the Nats.
But for once, the bizarre ending worked in the Nationals' favor.
We will never forget the sight of gimpy Josh Bard, gingerly, painfully limping up the first base line to meet his maker after hitting into a double play, only to have Miguel Tejada airmail the throw to first. Nyjer Morgan, pinch running for pinch runner Elijah Dukes (now in exile in AAA Syracuse), scores. Nats win 2+ months after the fact? Hey, we'll take it. Too bad Joel Hanrahan wasn't ar...

Lack of speed has little to do with Bard's bad groin
DENVER | Josh Bard grew up in the Denver area, which means he has had extra friends and family on hand all week for the Washington Nationals' series against the Colorado Rockies. And that means he has had more people to fret about just how hobbled he looks running the bases. "There's a lot of guys that are banged up," Bard said. "I'm just really slow, so...
Ex-teammate Hanrahan a winner
Joel Hanrahan earned his first win of the year the easy way -- hanging out in his hotel room. The Pirates reliever was enjoying a day off in Philadelphia on Thursday when his former Washington Nationals teammates were finishing off a suspended game in Houston by winning 11-10 in the 11th inning and he was the winning pitcher.

Joel Hanrahan Gets Win For Washington A Week After Being Traded: Nationals 11, Astros 10 (11 Innings)
Ex-Dodger prospect Joel Hanrahan was traded to Pittsburgh on June 30 but that didn't prevent him from acquiring a win in relief in a suspended game for his old team, the Nationals. (The game was started on May 5.) Nyger Morgan scored from third in the bottom of the 11th on a throwing error by Houston shortstop Miguel Tejada.

Nationals And Pirates Combine To Make Pretty Decent Baseball Team
The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser.Houston and Washington had some unfinished business yesterday, wrapping up a suspended game that took two months, two cities and three teams to complete. From Whence Comes Our Help?
Lord knows that watching the Nats as they are is too heavy a burden to borne by man. Now is the time for all epically bad teams to begin reimagining their club as it might be. Boswell is already underway. Granted, as profound thinking goes, "The Nationals Need a Roster Overhaul" fits nicely right alongside "The U.S. needs to rein in entitlement spending." Propositions...
Rob Dibble's Posterior Tattoo
For the third time this week, let me write these words: you have to keep watching this baseball team every night because of the chance that you'll see something the universe has never seen before. Today, of course, it was Joel Hanrahan getting a win thanks to a run scored by a dude he was traded for. Also, for the second time in the Nats' last three (completed) games, a pitcher...

Good, Bad & Ugly: Nationals Split Strange Doubleheader With Astros
"It's pathetic. I've never seen a team that is okay with losing...Some guys are mailing it in, and it's hard to watch." --Rob Dibble, July 10, 2009.
THE RESULTS: Joel Hanrahan got his first win for the Nationals this season, despite the fact that he now plays for Pittsburgh and the guy he was traded for scored the winning run.
