Texas right-hander Brandon McCarthy said he felt pain in his right shoulder before his complete-game vicotry in Houston on May 24. "It's not good," he said. "It's not what you want to hear at this point, but what can you do. It's frustrating because it's frustrating. I really don't care what the situation is. It's a pretty good kick to the gut."
McCarthy said he feels like he did in 2007, when he was on the disabled list from Aug. 15 until Sept. 10 with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade.

This is from Drew Davison / Special Contributor.....
It's no secret that the Texas Rangers, who have the 14th pick in this year's MLB Draft, have kept a close eye on Brownwood right-hander Shelby Miller, a 6-foot-3, 207-pounder that has touched 98 mph with his fastball.
Rangers president Nolan Ryan and general manager Jon Daniels both have watched Miller pitch. Miller,...

Nelson Cruz homered in the seventh to push the Rangers' lead to 6-3. Now, it's about to get interesting in the eighth. Vicente Padilla stopped the game in the seventh after a grounder by Mark Kotsay that apparently got a piece of his pitching hand. He stayed in the game and needed only one pitch to end the inning. It was his 99th and final pitch.
