The stars on hand were Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony. OK, it must be said Iverson, a Memphis guard who sat out Sunday's game due to injury and was visiting his old Denver teammate, has four titles to none for Anthony. But just wait. Anthony might be this season's scoring king. True, the Nuggets forward has played just three games. But the race isn't close. He's averaging 37.7 points to 31.3 for runner-up Kobe Bryant of the Lakers.Carmelo Looks Like a Scoring Champ originally appeared on Fanhouse NBA Blog on Mon, 02 Nov 2009 20:40:00 EST . WATN: Iverson's Debut in Memphis

After undergoing a grueling, miserable season with the Pistons that saw him fall from top ten to not mentioned at all, Allen Iverson finally emerged from the mire last night in his debut with the Memphis Grizzlies, three games into their season. The ex-Sixers legend failed to get the kind of offer he was looking for in the off-season to be signed as either a role player on a championship...

Allen Iverson’s First Blowup in Memphis

It took one game - actually, technically less than one game - for Allen Iverson to be visibly (and audibly) upset about his role in Memphis. A.I. made his Grizzlies debut last night, starting on the bench and coming into the game mid-way through the first quarter. For his first half run, Allen looked like [...]

Week 1 observations

Here are five things worth noting in week one 1) Carmelo Anthony is playing like the MVP: Melo leads the NBA in scoring with 37.7 points per game and has scored at least 40 points in two straight games. He also has attempted 41 free throws and averaging 7 rebounds per game. The Nuggets are 3-0 [...]

Fantasy Basketball, Week 2

by Charles Peach Carmelo Anthony is the most impressive player through the first week of the season and if he continues this pace he’ll be the Most Valuable Player by the end of it. The Nuggets are off to a 3-0 start and Melo is averaging 37.7 ppg. I tip my hat to those of you who wisely drafted him with your second-round pick or were fortunate to get him in the third round. My...

Popeye Jones, Bloodied and Bruised, Joins the Pantheon of Classic Athlete Mugshots

Popeye Jones was popped for drunken driving Sunday. While briefly resisting arrested, he did a faceplant into the pavement. We collected a few other memorable athlete mugshots, from left to right: thrilled Jim Courier, groggy Allen Iverson, serial killer/goalie Patrick Roy, and Jones. [Dallas Morning News]

Ep. 459: Try The Veal

On today’s show, Skeets and Tas face their toughest challenge yet — getting Stan Van Gundy to smile. They also mourn the lack of defense between the Cats and Nets, applaud the gritty Rockets, and tell Hornets fans to start worrying. All that, plus Skeets advocates sports bigamy and Tas calls out Allen Iverson. Remember to tip your waitress. Theyâ...

Game to pay attention to: Nuggets vs. Pacers

Denver (3-0) at Indiana (0-2) The Utah/Dallas matchup might bring about the closest game, the best pairing of two possible playoff teams; but for some reason this game jumps out at me. It just seems like a fun night out. The Nuggets, apparently, aren't letting down. The Pacers, apparently, still aren't guarding anyone. The Nuggets, conceivably, could fall into their old, tender,...

Memphis Grizzlies (1-1) at Denver Nuggets (2-0), 8 p.m.
