Bleeding Blue and Teal:
Don’t have much time as I’ve got one foot out the door on my way to PGE Park for Ryan Rowland-Smith’s start, but 1B Mike Carp has been promoted to Seattle while Erik Bedard has been placed on the 15-day DL.
Bedard hitting the DL isn’t a surprise at all. Normally I’d be really disappointed, but [...]

Bedard Disabled
The Mariners place Erik Bedard on the disabled list. His inflamed shoulder didn’t heal fast enough:
Bedard, 5-2 with a 2.47 ERA in 11 starts, has not pitched since June 7. The 30-year-old missed a start in Colorado last weekend with the inflammation before being placed on the DL on Wednesday, retroactive to June 8.

Mike Carp Is About To Have His Cup Of Coffee
Ryan Divish breaks the news that Mike Carp has joined the team in San Diego today. Russell Branyan is going to be away from the team tomorrow to attend his grandfather’s funeral, and the M’s didn’t want to find themselves in a situation where Mike Sweeney was the only first baseman on the roster, [...]--

Mike Carp joins Mariners
None other than Mike Carp just emerged onto the field for early batting practice, shook some hands, and is getting ready to step into the cage.
Not sure yet whose spot he's taking, but thought you'd like to know.
The left-handed-hitting Carp is hitting .299 with 10 homers and 32 RBI for Tacoma with a .412 on-base percentage and .517 slugging percentage. He also has 16 doubles...
Seattle Mariners put Erik Bedard on DL with shoulder problems
The Mariners put starter Erik Bedard on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
Bedard headed to DL
It's not official yet, but there's a strong possibility that Erik Bedard, who missed his last start with shoulder inflammation is headed to the disabled list. In fact, bank on it. His bullpen session today has been canceled, and as I reported earlier, Mike Carp is here from Tacoma.
I'll have more as it develops. Commence with the wailing.
Odds & Ends: Cubs, Brewers, Twins
Some notes from around the horn as another top potential trade piece, Erik Bedard, hits the DL:

Bedard throws, Johjima swings, Ackley hits
Sitting up in the San Diego press box with colleagues Jim Street, Ryan Divish and Shannon Drayer, watching Erik Bedard going through a throwing session off flat ground. Afterward, he had a discussion with trainers Rick Griffin and Rob Nodine. Bedard was rotating his arm and showing them a spot on his shoulder. Don't know what it means, so I won't even speculate.
Also, Kenji...
Pitching Market May Mean Phils Add To 'Pen
It's still possible that the Phillies will add the top starter Charlie Manuel covets, but the weak market for starting pitching could force them to improve their bullpen instead, according to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports. With Erik Bedard and Jake Peavy on the disabled list, there's a shortage of top starters available. The Phillies are watching Brad Penny, who, along with Jarrod...
Big weekend ahead for the Mariners
On a positive note, I suppose you could say the Mariners have come a long way from where they were a year ago today. That's when John McLaren was fired as manager, just three days after the dismissal of Bill Bavasi as GM.
Today, the Mariners are nowhere close to grumbling about their manager, off to the all-star game, and GM, whose trade of J.J. Putz and company to the Mets keeps...
