The 28 y/o left handed hitter player is a free agent at the end of the year and MLBTR speculated that the Mets could take a look at him.Blalock was originally a 3B who solely played the position for his first six seasons, after suffering through two injury plagued seasons (2007-2008) he reluctantly moved to 1B. This season he played strictly 1B and apparently 3B is not an option, his shoulder will not allow him to make the throw across the diamond. Prior to his shoulder injuries Blalock was a .270 hitter with at least 25 HRs and 90 RBIs. This season he has 66 RBIs and 25 HRs but his BA is down to .235. Some say he's having an off year at the plate while others believe his shoulder has made his swing an all-or-nothing approach. The late summer slump will hurt Blalock this offseason, but some teams should still have interest.
