TEAMS: Detroit Lions

This past week was very entertaining with last second wins, upsets and many close games. Here are my thoughts on the past weeks games. Congratulations go out to the Detroit Lions for winning their first game after 19 straight losses. Matthew Stafford played his best game of his very young career and the defense played well. • I'm always tempted to comment on your posts, but this time I just had to. I agree with a lot of the stuff you write; but there is one item in this post that I just can't agree with at all. It's way too early to be handing out praise to Broncos def. coordinator Nolan. You may be proven correct that Nolan has indeed turned around the Broncos D, but please, not yet.
Q: If the Titans had played the Broncos schedule to date, and the Broncos had played the Titans schedule, what do you think would have happened? I'm guessing that the Titans would be 3-0 and their def. coordinator wouldn't be taking the heat he is getting, while I bet the Broncos would be 0-3, or maybe 1-2. I mean, everybody's def. coordinator would look like a genius after playing the Browns and Raiders. Look at the Chiefs. They allowed more than 400 yards against the Eagles and more than 500 yards against the Ravens, but held the Raiders to less than 200. I'm just saying, let's see how the Broncos D is doing after their next 5 games. If they can shut down their next five opponents, then I'll be right behind you in line to praise Nolan. But I'm not impressed with what they've done so far.

Finally in The Right Layne?: Stafford Lifts The Lions in One Fell Swoop

On Sunday at around 1pm Pacific time, I felt a slight breeze out on the West Coast in my small apartment in Portland.  And while the fact that I live in the Willamette Valley may have figured into this breeze, I know in my hear that the real cause was a collective sigh of relief coming from my old home in the Midwest.
