Announced late Friday, the Giants signed Freddy Sanchez to a reported (Chron's Schulman then Merc, based on what sfgiants.com's Haft wrote), 2 years, $12M contract. Hensley Meulens takes over as hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants:
Meulens, a former Yankees top prospect, played parts of five seasons with the club before a stint in Japan. He was credited with helping to turn around John Bowker and Eugenio Velez at Fresno last season.
Meulens holds a .288 career OBP in the majors. [...]
