Have you heard this one? Apparently there has been a little bit of an uproar over the frequent mound visits the Yankees have been taking this October, so much so that MLB will likely discuss the matter in the offseason. Here's more from CBS Sports:All those meetings on the mound called by catcher Jorge Posada and the New York Yankees are giving Major League Baseball pause, too....MLB vice president of umpiring Mike Port said frequent mound meetings by all teams would likely be discussed by baseball officials this offseason."It would fall under the province of pace of game," Port said before the Yankees beat Philadelphia 7-4 to take a 3-1 Series lead. The Yankees held six in the first inning of Game 4. Then came eight more -- four alone with Jayson Werth hitting -- in the fifth. Damaso Marte relieved Sabathia in the seventh. Yankees' meetings a mound of annoyance for fans
PHILADELPHIA | New York Yankees pitchers have seemingly spent more time during the World Series talking to teammates and coaches on the mound than actually throwing to hitters. And it drove the Philadelphia Phillies and their fans batty during games at Citizens Bank Park. Battery mates CC Sabathia and Jorge Posada met at the mound six times in the first inning of Game 4 on Sunday...
Five Cuts: Oldies but goodies in spotlight
1. So the World Series comes down to this: the old and familiar. Stop me if you have heard this before: a Yankees team with Andy Pettitte, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera trying to get through Pedro Martinez to a world championship. Game 5 barely was over in Philadelphia when even Jeter, rarely reflective, immediately understood that the World Series is reduced to a...
Phillies Threat
Joba Chamberlain gives up a single and walk in the seventh, and Damaso Marte comes in to face Chase Utley with two out. The Phillies are still down 7-3. I guess Girardi isn’t quite ready to go to Rivera for more than two innings.
