Our Bill Nichols caught up with Patrick Crayton at an autograph signing session Tuesday. The Cowboys explanation as to why Romo appeared confused on the Fox 4 video as to whether or not his incomplete pass came on fourth down? Crayton backs it up. "You've got to realize, after that play, we're taking our time, waiting to see if a flag is going to be thrown or whatever and they're changing the down marker to go down,'' said Crayton, who was at Gil's Infield in Duncanville Tuesday afternoon. "I see the same thing, thinking it says third down. "Sometimes, it happens. You're thinking maybe they made a mistake. He knew it was over, but you can always ask.'' On Monday, before the video was posted, head coach Wade Phillips and receiver Sam Hurd were asked if Romo knew it was fourth down. Both said that he did. "He always knows the down, distance and time,'' Crayton said. "He lets us know once he comes into the huddle and he did that.''

Wade Phillips on Tony Romo

The theory going around is that Tony Romo has been coached so much about protecting the ball and make sound decisions that it is taking away from his natural playmaking abilities. If I can steal a Jacques Taylor term for a moment, Wade Phillips believes that's poppycock. "We're not trying to change him," Phillips said. Is there a possibility Romo is being too...

Watkins ready to start

Patrick Watkins will start at strong safety now that Gerald Sensabaugh is sidelined with a broken thumb. Watkins played the majority of Sunday's loss after Sensabaugh was injured and finished with six tackles. "I felt pretty good,'' Watkins said. "I tried to be on top of everything. For the most part, I think I did OK and I look to improve even more this week knowing I'm going to...

JJT: How come Tony Romo no longer talks on Wednesdays

It appears as though Tony Romo is no longer talking to the media every Wednesday. If you're interested in my thoughts on what this really means - everything happens for a reason - then go here.

'No Tony, No!"

You think Tom Landry would have screamed that or something similar at Tony Romo when he twice targeted Sam Hurd in the end zone with time running out? Add Michael Irvin to Troy Aikman in questioning the play calling.

Brownie Points: It’s time to blame someone other than Sullivan

The Raiders do take a lot of grief in this space – all of it totally justified and warranted, by the way – but the most disappointing football team in the NFL right doesn’t wear silver and black. They sport a silver star. Watching the Dallas Cowboys fall apart again in Sunday’s 17-10 loss at [...]

Turn Him Loose

It took three full games, 59 minutes and a couple of seconds, but I finally recognized Tony Romo this season.
