Third straight NL East title and back-to-back World Series appearances...that's the stuff I used to dream of when I was a kid. They may not have won the coveted championship this year, but they're still a great team worthy of adoration. We have the entire season...

The Phillies have informed Brett Myers they intend to go in another direction. Myers thanks them "for putting up with my (stuff)," according to the Inquirer's Jim Salisbury. [Link] Beerleaguer: My eulogy to Myers was written May 30, two days after it was announced that he would require season-ending hip surgery. Turned out, he was able to pitch again, but he ended up as a non-factor...

The season just ended, but the Phillies kicked off the offseason with their first move.
The Phillies picked up Cliff Lee’s $8 million option for the 2010 season.
No surprise here. There is still a possibility that Lee will be signed to a long term deal. The Phillies have not made a decision about Pedro Feliz’s $5 million option [...]

In a report in yesterday’s Philadelphia Inqurier, Andy Martino and and Jim Salisbury say that the Phillies are are undecided on whether to offer a contract extension to Cliff Lee.

Phillies' GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said the team is "actively exploring alternatives" to third baseman Pedro Feliz before deciding whether or not to pick up his option, according to Andy Martino of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

So, yeah...we had some people predicting the outcome of the World Series. And well, they were wrong.
Let's take Jimmy Rollins. He predicted what? Oh yeah...he predicted that the Phillies were going to win the World Series in 5 games, 6 if they were NICE to the Yankees. Sighs. Not so much.
