Decent pop from the right side.Nick Green (2B): Yet another versatile glove-first infielder that the Sox like to sign for infield depth in Pawtucket. Like Chavez, Green has decent pop for a AAA bat.Ivan Ochoa (SS): More infield depth for t...

Jon Lester has beaten cancer, pitched a no-hitter, and won a World Series all before the age of 25. He is quite an impressive story, but with many years ahead in baseball, what else can we expect from him? Another site called him a "breakout" candidate. Are they right?

BOSTON, MA — After a blind date turned into an educational seminar on baseball, Jamie Jones told SSNN there is a “better chance of Tommy [O'Brien, her date] sleeping with Denis Leary,” than ever taking her out again. “At least Denis Leary is a Red Sox fan,” Jones pointed out. “And for the record, I know [...]

Backstop Merry-go-round

The contract the Red Sox have put on the table for Jason Varitek has been given a deadline, according to the Globe's "Extra Bases" blog. The Red Sox have given free agent catcher Jason Varitek a Saturday deadline to accept or reject their one year offer, according to the Boston Herald. Sherrill & Olson

It looks like the Orioles and George Sherrill are headed for a showdown -- in an arbitrator's office -- perhaps sometime next month, unless a deal can be worked out. As it is, from what I know, the arbitration process is no fun as both sides argue for money -- the Orioles want to pay him X ...
