Dan Shanoff:
Well, THAT was the worst game Tim Tebow has ever played. (You can read more about that here, naturally.)But let's put it into context: Florida still won decisively -- notwithstanding the Pick-6 that shouldn't have happened (Florida's) and the TWO Mississippi State Pick-6s that ruined Tebow's night. Florida's defense is the best in the country, and no matter how baffling the Gators' offense is, that defense (and special teams) will always have them in the game. Here's more context: That same Florida team maligned for beating Tennessee by "only" 23-13 looks like an offensive juggernaut compared to Alabama's performance against the Vols, which was only saved by Bama's special teams and Lane Kiffin's stupid decision not to try to get his kicker a few more yards with 48 seconds to go.This is the upshot, on a national level: Putting the argument for "SEC exceptionalism" aside, neither Florida nor Alabama looked like a decisive na...

The Low Point of Tim Tebow's Career
The lowest point of Tim Tebow's career came Saturday night. And it had nothing to do with a pick-6 (or even two of them) or how Florida's offense is working in the red zone. It came after the game, when Tebow wouldn't talk to the media about how things went. My latest Tebow-related column for Yahoo's Dr. Saturday gives it a name: The Bizarro Promise.-- D.S.

Gators stay undefeated after visit to Starkville
Tim Tebow and his Florida Gators stayed undefeated after facing former Gator offensive coordinator Dan Mullen’s Mississippi State Bulldogs Saturday.
It was the Bulldog defensive, most notably freshmen cornerback Johnathan Banks who had Tebow’s number. Banks returned two interceptions for touchdowns, a 100-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 20-yard return in the 4th [...]

The Hangover Cure: Week 8
Before noting the on-field stuff, take a second to note the classy, dignified remembrance of Jasper Howard from West Virginia on Saturday. You'll feel better.Key Takeaways. Even ugly as sin, a win is a win. Most of the nation's unbeaten teams can win ugly, we know, because they have had to. Headlinin': This week in lamentable SEC officiating
• The Never-Ending Sorry. The conference has spent much of the last three weeks calling out its own officials for bad calls in nationally televised games, so it shouldn't be a surprise that coaches are taking it upon themselves to open up on those lousy SEC refs after another sketchy weekend. First up: Mississippi State's Dan Mullen, who was incensed that officials failed...
Next! Who or What Will Step Up Next For Alabama’s Football Team?
This season has seen a lot of different people stand up and step up for Alabama. This is not a team built around one player as Florida seems to be with Tim Tebow or Oklahoma is with Sam Bradford. Can you imagine Texas being in the top five without Colt McCoy?
There have been games like Arkansas when Greg McElroy torched the Razorbacks and put the game out of reach. Other games saw...
