While I sit here frustrated with another weak offensive performance, there's one thing I can't understand; Why hasn't Wily Mo Pena been called up...The Mets offense is sputtering; both Gary Sheffield and Carlos Beltran are playing on weak legs, while David Wright's power outage has reached epic proportions, couple that with the injuries and it should be expected that this team would struggle to score runs. Even with all the injuries the team is competitive, in the month of June they have a record of 7-9 and seven of those nine loses are by three or less runs. One more hitter and this team wins half those loses, which puts them in first place and comfortably in wild card standing. But even if Omar is smart about waiting and I'm just being impatient, Wily Mo Pena wouldn't cost a thi...

Hendu Misses Shea, Omir Gets It, Church Is Like Kingman
From inside the Mets (and Rays) clubhouses I gleaned several conclusions Saturday:
Carlos Beltran is a real gamer (I proposed trading him a month ago because the returning bounty would fill several holes, but I agree with a post who called me “insane” ). He’s hurting right now. (scheduled for a MRI Monday). His knee barks [...]

Exploring The Lack of Trade Options For The Mets
With Carlos Beltran headed for an MRI tomorrow and still no sign of Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado and Oliver Perez I think now is an appropriate time to discuss trading for someone who could provide some steady offense, especially if Beltran hits the DL. The problem for the Mets is they have very few trade chips to work with. Their top organizational prospect, Fernando Martinez was...
Mr Softie? I Think Not
During the early part of my radio show’s existence the recurring debate about the Mets was the toughness of the ball club. Inevitably Carlos Beltran would come up and many fans would cite him as the poster boy for the team’s soft persona. How do those same fans feel today after it was revealed that [...]
