High Fives Terrell Manning, N.C. State The Wolfpack linebacker had a terrific day in a 13-0 blanking of hated rival North Carolina. Manning was in on 11 tackles, including a sack, and broke up three passes in igniting the dominating defensive effort, which allowed UNC just three yards rushing. Jacory Harris, Miami As inconsistent as hes been throughout most of his career, the senior signal caller threw three touchdowns passes in a win over Duke to move into fourth place on the ACCs all-time touchdown pass list. Harris tied former UNC star Darian Durant with 68 career TD passes after his solid say in a 49-14 rout of the Blue Devils. Lamar Miller, Miami The sensational tailback ran the ball 20 times for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns in leading the Hurricanes to a 49-14 rout of visiting Duke. Miller now has 1,016 yards on the season. Tom OBrien The Wolfpack coach got his team ready for arch rival North Carolina once again better than UNCs coach, and beat them for a fifth consecutive season. States 13-0 win was the first time it had shut out the Heels since 1960. Perry Jones, Virginia Jones had a big day in the Cavaliers 31-13 rout of Maryland on the road. He carried the ball 22 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns; one a 47-yard burst for UVas first score on the afternoon. Jones surpassed last seasons output and now has 782 yards rushing on the campaign. Low FivesNorth Carolina Perhaps the following quote from UNC tailback Gio Bernard after a 13-0 loss at N.C. State says it all, which is that the Tar Heels are falling apart, and a new regime cant be named too soon. I think its just a matter of not feeling right. I didnt feel right going into the game. I felt guys were just joking and not taking this game seriously. I knew guys were just not really focused in. Danny OBrien, Maryland The sophomore signal caller continued his puzzling season by completing just 16 of 36 pass attempts with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Since Marylands last win on Oct. 1, OBrien is 40-for-95 with two touchdowns and four interceptions. It looks like coach Randy Edsalls musical QBs system isnt working. Boston College This teams struggles have been so bad that only 38,000 fans showed up for a Thursday night home game with Florida State in town. BC hasnt gotten quality support all season, but one might think fans up there might care a bit more with a program such as FSU in town. Duke The Blue Devils had made quite a bit of progress, even though its not fully represented in the winloss column, but Saturdays 49-14 loss at Miami was a step back. The Blue Devils allowed 467 yards of offense and were blanked 21-0 over the final quarter-and-a-half of the game by a team that was 4-4 entering the contest. Notre Dame The school with the storied program has been bandied about as having a possible future as an ACC member played the first of three consecutive games against ACC squads over the weekend and defeated Wake Forest, 24-17, in Winston-Salem. Wake blew opportunities to win, but a loss is still a loss. The fighting Irish travel to Maryland this coming weekend before hosting Boston College, so it likely will go 3-0 versus the ACC, which will spark more criticism of the league. Player of the WeekMichael Rocco, Virginia The inconsistent UVa starting quarterback had the best day of his college career by completing 23 of 36 pass attempts for 307 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 win at Maryland. Rocco came alive after the Terps built a lead, and helped his team cruise to the victory.
