Going back to the mid-90s, as a preteen lad, my brother and I would invariably keep a copy of Street and Smith's, or Lindy's, or Sporting News' NFL preview on the Sunday snack table. As outdated as the information could sometimes be (particularly rosters), it was a neat little reference tool to have handy as we partook in the slate of games. These days, quick info checks can be done on an iPad or Android, as print journalism ages with the grace of a Pauly Shore comedy. So dropping eight bucks on possibly outdated information marks a bad investment. But an old fogie like me (okay, a 29-year-old fogie with gray beside my ears) loves the simpleness of multi-colored print offering a wealth of knowledge. To this day, either my brother or myself will still pick up some football annual with a localized cover ("Michael Vick Leads the Birds' Comeback!" before they go 4-12), just because of its decorative nature. Having it on his coffee table or my office desk means "Hey, football season's coming/here!"But this year, I wanted to try something different. In an effort to greater acclimate myself with the depth and make-up of each NFL team, I decided to write my own previews, in the style of those magazines. Beginning in mid-May, I started with Kansas City and worked my way through the NFL draft order, finishing with Baltimore around mid-June.Beginning June 3, I started posting them on every weekday in that same order, concluding with the Ravens on July 16.It was a lot of work, but a fun challenge. Breaking down rosters, looking at where the teams went wrong in 2012, and forecasting 2013 took a lot of effort, but my reward has been a completed product I can take some pride in.Some of the into, particularly on earlier teams, may be already outdated, so bear with me. Let's just say I'm glad Aaron Hernandez got his arrest out of the way before the July 11 publication date for the Patriots piece. That took a little whitewash editing. If you haven't read any yet, I hope you enjoy each preview. All criticism is welcome (just understand if I'm punchy and grouchy in my retorts; this was VERY time-consuming).AFC EAST-New England Patriots-Miami Dolphins-New York Jets-Buffalo BillsAFC NORTH-Baltimore Ravens-Cincinnati Bengals-Pittsburgh Steelers-Cleveland BrownsAFC SOUTH-Houston Texans-Indianapolis Colts-Tennessee Titans-Jacksonville JaguarsAFC WEST-Denver Broncos-San Diego Chargers-Oakland Raiders-Kansas City ChiefsNFC EAST-Washington Redskins-New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia EaglesNFC NORTH-Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears-Detroit LionsNFC SOUTH-Atlanta Falcons-New Orleans Saints-Carolina Panthers-Tampa Bay BuccaneersNFC WEST-San Francisco 49ers-Seattle Seahawks-St. Louis Rams-Arizona Cardinals
