Andre Ethier has been placed on the DL with an oblique strain, while second baseman Mark Ellis has been reinstated to the active roster.
Ethier sustained the injury last week against the Giants while running towards second base. The Dodgers hesitated at first to put the All-Star right fielder on the DL, however, it became clear that a few weeks of rest are required for Ethier to fully heal.
With a .291 batting average and 55 runs batted in, Ethier has been a primary reason for the Dodgers staying afloat in the NL West while Matt Kemp heals from a hamstring injury.
Fantasy owners should consider Ethier an undroppable player at this point, and plan on stashing him in a bench or DL spot instead of outright dropping him.
