Andrew Bynum‘s rehabilitation from bone bruises in both knees has been wet and woolly. The Philadelphia 76ers center, if he can even be called that since he has not suited up for the team in a game this season, has made waves with his funky hairdos. For the most part, the 25-year-old has rocked a growing afro, but he did flatten it into an even more unique hairstyle earlier this season. Not surprisingly, reporters could not resist bringing up Bynum’s coifs on Monday while he spoke about his knee rehab. Most of the conversation centered around Bynum’s recovery, such as the fact that Bynum has been swimming to stay in shape to keep pressure off his knees. But the topic of his hairstyles eventually came up. “Oh, man, I want it to grow forever,” Bynum said of his afro, according to The Delaware County Daily Times. “There’s going to come a point in time where it’s not going to be growing, so I might as well enjoy it while I have it.” He was asked why he flattened it “like Dora the Explorer” on Nov. 14 against the Pistons. “It wasn’t Dora, man,” Bynum said. “It was ‘Pimp named Slickback’ [a character from 'The Boondocks' cartoon]. No, I flattened it because it gets boring picking it out all the time.” Oh yeah, and Bynum said he is swimming 20 to 30 laps and that he has an appointment to get his knee evaluated on Dec. 20. There is no word on whether he will keep the afro when — or if — he returns to the court. Check out where Bynum’s ‘do stacks up against other crazy hairstyles>> Have a question for Ben Watanabe?
