Starting pitching has been the Achilles Heel of the Boston Red Sox all season long. There starter ERA of 4.70 is the 5th worst in baseball and week in and week out there are questions about whether or not the Boston Red Sox will get a consistent effort out of their starter pitching. If the Boston Red Sox are to make a run at the post-season, it would start by acquiring a starting pitcher, which is probably the reason they recently inquired about Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster.
