Bartolo Colon won his 14th game for a share of the major league lead, backed by Jed Lowrie's homer and two-run single and a two-run drive by Stephen Vogt in the Oakland Athletics' 6-4 victory against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. Colon, the 40-year-old All-Star, won his third straight decision while facing his former club. The right-hander earned the 2005 AL Cy Young Award with a 21-8 year for the Angels. Mike Trout hit a two-run homer in the first on a ball he crushed into the elevated seats in left-center, then Colon settled in nicely against Los Angeles' loaded lineup. Colon (14-3) allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings, struck out two and walked two. He has won 11 of 12 decisions since losing May 9 at Cleveland and has lost just once since turning 40 on May 24. After serving a 50-game suspension late last year into this season for a positive testosterone test, Colon is among more than a dozen players being investigated by Major League Baseball f...

The Oakland Athletics: Brett Anderson’s rehab going well

Brett Anderson Even though the Oakland Athletics bullpen has been quite strong this season, they are missing a prominent force. Left handed pitcher Brett Anderson, who was acquired by the Athletics in 2007, has been out with an ankle for most of 2013. Even though he was picked to pitch Opening Day this year, he only pitched five more games after that before landing on the disable...

Colon earns 14th win, pitches A's past Angels

Athletics place John Jaso on the 7-day DL with concussion

Another player has hit the 7-day DL this week.  The Oakland A's have placed catcher John Jaso on the DL with a concussion.  Jaso was undergoing tests over the last couple days to determine whether he was healthy enough to play - this is MLB protocol when a potential concussion exists - and he did not pass the test.  The A's decided it best to utilize the relatively new...

Oakland A’s knock off Los Angeles Angels 6-4 as Colon Wins 14th

The Oakland A’s downed the Los Angeles Angels 6-4 thanks to a typically impressive outing from Bartolo Colon and a strong showing from the offense, including home runs from Jed Lowrie and Stephen Vogt. The A’s fell behind early after Colon served up a two-run home run to Mike Trout in the first inning. Of the uncharacteristically rough start for Colon, who ending up picking up...

Oakland Athletics Don Bright Yellow Throwback Jerseys Against Los Angeles Angels (Photo)

It’s hard not to have a soft spot for some things from the past. Then again, there are things that are better off behind us — like the A’s throwback jerseys. The Athletics sported uniforms from days long ago when they hosted the Angels Saturday afternoon. Oakland defeated Los Angeles, 3-1, so either the change of garb brought good luck upon the A’s or the bright yellow pants...

Oakland A’s Trade Rumors: Michael Choice Should Be Labeled ‘Untouchable’ This July

Chase Utley. Michael Young. Jake Peavy. Ervin Santana. These are the names that have been mentioned in connection to the Oakland A’s as the trade deadline approaches. Peavy and Santana would add depth to an already strong starting rotation and push someone to the bullpen, further strengthening...
