I’m not sure if Phil Jackson is available why if I am the Cleveland Cavaliers would I be talking to Mike Brown? Did they go down this road together before? So why do this again especially since Phil Jackson has made it clear he wants back in the game and the Cavs have the cap space, the draft picks and Kyrie Irving to intice Phil Jackson to take the job if he wants it. Mike Brown is known as a defensive minded coach who has a very stagnant offense. While the Cavs owner Dan Gilbert is fond of Brown and the success their had together, let’s not forget their success had to do more with Lebron James than anything Mike Brown could have done there or in Los Angeles where he was fired 5 games into this season. Neither Gilbert or Brown has had success since LeBron left the building in 2010. Phil Jackson knows winnning, the knock on Jackson is can he build a winner? In Chicago he had Jordan and Pippen already in place when he took over, he had Kobe and Shaq when he took over. So while Kyrie Irving is a nice building block unless a big time player becomes a free agent and agrees to come to Cleveland, would Jackson really want to sit and be bad for a season or two while the pieces come together? As stated here recently Jackson’s name will be attached to many teams around the league and some will have teeth others won’t. If nothing else in the past three years in Cleveland, no matter who you have as coach you have to have the players. Byron Scott playing with the Lakers when they were showtime so he knows something about winning. He coached the Jason Kidd Nets to back to back finals. But he couldn’t get to 500 in Cleveland why? No players and the collateral damage of not having Lebron James was something Dan GIlbert sorely underestimated. So while both Gilbert and Brown are comfortable with each other it doesn’t mean the return to hayday of the Cavs unless …Number 6 of the Miami Heat will be donning a Cavs uniform in the upcoming season. What can Brown do for the Cavs? Not much unless he has the players to make it happen.
