PLAYERS: Patrick Kabongo
TEAMS: Detroit Lions
Emergency signing lands huge body He’s Huge To put it politely, Patrick Kabongo is a monster.  At 6’6” and a suspected 330ish pounds, this offensive lineman has the physical tools to be an absolute mauler in the middle of the line of scrimmage.
Not only will Lions QB’s be protected they will be almost invisible behind Kabongo’s frame.
He’s got the moves Not just big but talented to boot, the former Edmonton Eskimo was named to the 2008 CFL All-Star team. Coach Mike Benevides hopes to have Kabongo slot in for the injured Dean Valli or Jesse Newman. Homey feeling This non-import has already had success at BC Place.  Kabongo was a member of the 2005 Eskimos team that won the 93rd Grey Cup, right here in Vancouver. If you want to go up against that, be my guest. (Photo - Canada.com) R-E-S-P-E-C-T Those who have played with and against him all respect him.  After the acquisition, the twitterverse was littered with shout outs and adoring comments from both current and retired players.  It seems as nasty as he is on the field, he is very highly regarded off of it. Especially in the locker room.  GM Wally Buono calls him a natural leader. Jack of all trades He’s multi-talented and played Defensive Line at the University of Nebraska. Actually, he played it so well, he was drafted by the Detroit Lions for that position. He has had some snaps in his CFL career along the D-Line in goal line or short yardage situations. Lions Center Angus Reid vividly recalls having to go up against him in the past. This signing has been in the works for a while.  GM Wally Buono knew he was thin at in Canadian Offensive Linemen.  Kabongo was told he would be brought in if there were any emergencies. If two OL go down on the first day of Training Camp, it’s Kabongo to the rescue. Cheers, The Bartender CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT OUR B.C.
