The biggest storyline coming out of the Seahawks’ blowout win over the 49ers on Sunday night was how stifling the crowd noise was for the San Francisco offense. That tends to happen when the stadium sets a world record decibel level for a sporting event. While no one likes to see their team lose to a hated division rival, rather than just lick their wounds and move on, some 49ers fans are acting as though a great injustice has been committed. Indeed, according to some 49ers fans, the crowd noise at CenturyLink Field constitutes an illegal – or at least a very unsporting – advantage. I don’t even remember them being this upset about the officiating in the Super Bowl.Earlier this week, we laughed at some Internet comments to that effect, but somehow it’s even funnier when whining comments are submitted in a letter to a newspaper. It smacks of extra effort taken to get the crying out.Was anyone else appalled by the unsportsmanlike conduct of the Seattle Seahawks and their fans, juiced o...

Robert Turbin: Backing Up the Beast

Robert Turbin (@SNFonNBC) With Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch running wild and powering over defenses and Russell Wilson’s ability to sprint outside of the pocket for massive yards, it is easy to overlook the Seahawks’ backup running back, Robert Turbin. You might yell “who” at the top of your lungs after reading that name, but Turbin, the fourth round draft pick from...

How Important is the Seahawks' Home Field Advantage?

If you’ve ever played competitive sports at any level, you know how important home field advantage is. Travel makes you cranky, the home team knows their surroundings, and the stress of a three-hour bus ride may or may not make you reveal to a bus full of your coaches and teachers how frequently you smoke pot. There’s a reason Vegas swings home lines by three points, and there’s...

49ers fans write letter to paper to complain about Seattle crowd noise

The home-field advantage is one of the better-known aspects in all of sports. Numbers continuously show that playing in your home stadium produces positive results. Many factors can be attributed to this notion, whether it is the comfort of sleeping in your own bed the night before a big game, or merely the familiarity with the nooks and crannies of your home-field. Another undeniable...

Seahawks prepare to face AFC South

Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks have started out their 2012 NFL campaign with wins against two teams that are both in the NFC.  They must now prepare for a four game stretch against the AFC South. Obviously, the AFC South is not the best division in pro football, but it does hold two solid teams, Houston and Indianapolis. Tennessee is looking more average...

Seattle’s own version of S.W.A.G

SWAG We here the word swag thrown around a lot these days.  By definition it can either mean ornamental flowers or money taken by a thief.  Based on the later definition Aaron Curry and Brian Bosworth would have to be at the top of the list. However, I don’t think that is what is meant today when people say “swag.” Like many words the kids today use, it means something completely...

Seattle vs San Francisco game provides fan photo of the year

One Seattle Seahawks fan seems to have identified an undercover cop in San Francisco 49ers gear - and given us the photo of the year in the process.

One of the more interesting stories in the NFL last week was that undercover Seattle cops were planning on dressing in visitors’ team gear at Sundays’ Seahawks-49ers game, in an attempt to identify and remove unruly fans. Well, one Seahawks fan saw right through their attempt at entrapment, and called out the most obvious narc in the building: (via cbssports.com) Back to the...

If the Seattle Seahawks are going to cover the gigantic 19.5 point spread against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday they're going to have to do it without starting left tackle Russell Okung. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll announced on Wednesday that Okung won't be playing against the Jaguars. Okung injured his toe and was taken to the locker room in the first quarter of the...

Seahawks heading towards an early-season trap game?

Usually week three of the NFL season isn’t a time we talk about “trap games,” but the Jacksonville Jaguars are just that bad, and the Seattle Seahawks are just that good. Still, we can’t ignore a few key factors that may favor the Jaguars against head coach Gus Bradley’s former team. To start, no, the Jaguars probably won’t be able to beat the Seahawks in the loudest...
