Purdue gets the honor of being one of two Big Ten teams kicking off the slate of New Year's Day bowl games when they clash with Oklahoma State in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The game can be viewed on ESPNU at Noon E.T. If you believe what our staff has to say about this one, you may want to get your beverages ready now. Andy Coppens (Co-managing editor): Thoughts: First off, I love…. LOVE the concept of this bowl as it serves the community of Dallas and gets the younger crowd involved in a fun way too. Having said that I feel sorry for the Purdue crowd heading down to Dallas as this one could be U-G-L-Y. I'm shivering just thinking about what Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State offense will do to a defense that can't stop the run or the pass. Don't get me wrong, the Boilermakers have some nice individual parts all over the field, but they haven't been able to make those parts come together to form a well oiled machine all year, what makes you think it'll happen on New Years Day. Thankfully most of us can use this game to get over our hangovers or just keep the party going right through the Rose Bowl? Whichever you prefer. All I know is if you are watching this one Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's are in order.   Prediction: Oklahoma State 47, Purdue 20 ...more after jump... Nate Woelfel (Co-managing editor): Thoughts: I'm still not entirely sure how Purdue managed to scrape together enough wins to make a bowl game. Credit to them though for somehow doing it. The Boilermakers defense has proven to be porous on more than one occasion this season and Oklahoma State appears to have an offense that is capable of exploiting them, at least on paper.  The Cowboys have the fourth best scoring offense in the FBS, averaging 44.7 points per game. The Pokes have also recorded 84 plays from scrimmage that have gone for 20 yards or more. To be blunt, the only way the Cowboys lose is if they beat themselves. Prediction: Oklahoma State 45, Purdue 21   Will Nahikian (Featured columnist) Thoughts: The Heart of Dallas bowl huh? Purdue had everyone fooled to start the season, they hung in with Notre Dame and we had them ranked pretty high in the B1G. But as the B1G season came around they lost 5 games in a row and we looked pretty dumb for believing in this team. They were able to turn in around a bit as they won their last three, but those wins came against Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. Oklahoma State has the 4th ranked scoring offense in the NCAA and should give the Boilermakers plenty of trouble. This one looks like it will turn into a blowout, Purdue may stick around a while but I cannot see them winning or even losing by single digits. Prediction: Oklahoma State 52, Purdue 21
