Another Cubs Blog:
I already did the Yankees hitters and without the time spent formatting, here are the BIS projections (James doesn’t believe in projecting pitchers) for the Yankees in 2010. I’ve assumed they re-sign Pettitte and I have Hughes as a starter. He was projected to start 12 games and appear in 61 overall for a total of 121 innings pitched (3.35 FIP). Since we know starting is more difficult by about 25% and we know about half his innings are projected as a starter, I multiplied his 3.35 FIP by half of the 25% that you normally would. I should do that for each of the secondary numbers before the FIP, but I’m way too lazy for that. This is close enough.
IP FIPWAR
CC Sabathia2383.446.1
AJ Burnett 2233.854.5
J. Chamberlain1763.733.8
Andy Pettitte1983.774.2
Phil Hughes1213.752.6
Mariano Rivera682.583.5
The Yankees are going to be really good at baseball again. Shawn kind of joked about the possibility of Halladay being in their rotation next year. That might have to be one of the best rotations ever if that happened. AJ Burnett would have the 5th highest projected FIP among their starters and it’s .24 runs better than the Cubs best (Carlos Zambrano). CC Sabathia would be the team’s number 2 starter.
